Conservatives are correct in not calling McCain a conservative.

Obama is against drilling (or is he), against the surge (or is he) Against business (he WILL raise the taxes of those who employ most of us).

He would willingly walk away from the middle east and let them do whatever they want. He thinks we will be totally independant of middle eastern oil (venezualan oil too) in 10 years with NO DRILLING here. How is he gonna do that? He can't.

Just because I am pro-business/free market, Anti welfare state/entitlement/classwarfare, pro-national defense, Anti depedancy upon foriegn oil, it doesnt make me a racist.
I would love for the Republicans to run a black candidate but you know how the liberals treat conservative blacks. Ask Clarence Thomas, Secretary Rice, or any other minority with a conservative viewpoint.

Since Obama is a Chicago liberal (nothing new here) they love him but if he were a conservative they'd be raking him over the coals like they do with every other conservative (and even some moderate democrats) who they view as a threat to their ultimate plan of the huge government controlling your every move.

BTW the US postal service lost billions last quarter... Makes me glad that the government isnt in control of something as crucial as healthcare.

smokin Obama has a lot more to offer than McCain.smokin If the clock were turned back 10-20 years or so, McCain could make a pretty good president but now he just seems like a confused old man.smokin He falls asleep on the senate floor and routinely flubs his lines just like Bush, except McCain isnt dumb like Bush but just too old.smokin I feel like our country needs dynamic leadership at this time like what Obama offers.smokin

So I'm white and over 35. Is it only us over 35 white guys who don't want....blah, blah.
The way conservatives are attacked and lumped together

This is worthy of quoting and responding to. You lumped people together in your first post and now you are doing it again. Yet you complain how conservatives are being lumped together.

You are separated not divorced and looking to hook up with other single women? Is that conservative and moral? Do some self-reflection.

I bear you no ill-will. I just hate how you are not thinking and trying to impress others with your warped thoughts. The best place for you to find women who are conservative is in the McCain Campaign. Volunteer.

Considering what you wrote here, did you know that Obama helped get people off welfare before he tried for president? I think you are hedging a bit here.

Conservative view points sometimes get confused with racist view points. Anti welfare usually means anti minorities. Racists want less government control because the feds step in and make them be as fair as they can to the minorities. Conservatives are usually those who have never struggled in life, they were usually born with the proverbial "white" spoon in their mouth and have no understanding of what it is like to be discriminated against by what they look like, after all, they are the "right" color. Free business is all good until you get a monopoly on something like oil or public service companies and then regulation is needed for fair practices to the consumer.

I will say what I said again about McCain, the only way he will win is if more than half of the country is still prejudice against black folks because NOONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANTS MORE OF THE SAME AS WE GOT FROM BUSH AND THAT IS WHAT WE WILL GET WITH MCCAIN.

Obama wants to put more US military in Afghanistan where they should be.
He's also threatened Pakistan if they dont act against Al qaeda and the Taliban in their country he would.
He's never talked about just walking away from the ME.
He has said that he would set a time table for withdrawal from Iraq as they will never get their ducks in order if we continue to do everything for them.
Iraq has indicated they want us out to, so whats the problem?

He wants to get the country away from foreign oil dependency.
What's wrong with that?
He has even shown a willingness to work across party lines and give in to limited off-shore oil drilling. But, he wants guarantees for investments in alternative energy sources to go with it.
He's a realist, and understands that off-shore oil drilling is not going to provide any relief for Americans. None at all for 10 yrs and then only pennies on the gal. He also realizes that we can not keep on relying on fossil fuels because they are causing environmental problems and wont last forever.
He has a rare quality among politicians. A vision for the future!

You mean the Postal service showed a loss compared to what?
Compared to their under-funded budget?
If Bush hadnt been so busy giving oil companies and his rich friends tax breaks, and spending our childrens future on an illegal and wasteful war in Iraq maybe they would have recieved the proper funds!

Long time no see.

There should be no American troops in any foreign countries, particularly the Middle East, which is just another confirmation on here that no matter who wins this election, this insane Arabian Expedition will continue to drain us of blood and treasure.

“The time for action is now,” Mr. Bush said as he announced in the White House Rose Garden that he was lifting an executive order, which was first issued by his father in 1990 and was renewed by Bill Clinton.

Do you mean in this campaign? I know the drilling here has been limited due to hazards to the environment around the drilling areas. I am stuck in a catch 22 with the drilling here, I love the natural areas we have and hate to lose them but I know that we should be doing all we can to get out from under dependency on outside oil. What to do???

I am too. I live in Florida which depends on tourism..But I think we need to do it all, drill environmentally safe, invest in alternatives, nuclear..I have been to France and they don't glow in the dark but get 75% of their electricity from nuclear power..

Invest all the countries available resources into the new available technologies. An effort similar to the Space-race, and the Manhattan Project.
A Gov backed program involving our scientist, universities, and private sector corporations to develop efficient renewable clean energy, and move us away from fossil fuel technologies as fast as we can.
By combining Nuclear, solar, hydrogen fuel cell tech, etc., 10 yrs ought to do it, and the journey will create millions of good jobs right here at home, as well as restore National Pride and hope!

Contrary to popular belief, drilling for oil does not hurt the environment, and anyone who says so is just buying into typical mainstream scare tactics. Directional drilling methods have become so advanced that you can literally tap an entire field in some cases on just a couple of wells, miles apart. It does not take "ten years" to see that oil, we're talking a matter of months. I know this because half of my family have worked in the fields with companies such as eX Petroleum and the like.

What you all should be talking about is refining capacity. That's the bigger problem.

Subsidizing this will just bring higher costs to the consumer.

Yea, well I cannot speak on nuclear power, don't know much about it. I would like to see more of the less harmful types myself. We do need to steward this planet as much as we can because it is obvious that we can completely decimate the environment if we do not control ourselves.

I agree with Mirror on his statement that Obama has much more vision and seems a stronger candidate for pres.

Obama's ads on the tele are all speaking about his visions. McCain on the other hand is blaming Obama for the high gas priceshuh and of course the never die republican approach, higher taxes. I don't know how the American people can fall for McCains ads when after all the damage Bush has done to this country in his time here, we will not see a light at the end of the tunnel for quite a while now.
