Why do people think that their decision to send an e-mail somehow obligates the other person to respond?

It doesn't.

No it does not obligate them .. but the foremost reason to respond i would say is common courtsy now is that too much to want .or do people just get ignored in person if they talk to you and they are not your type.?think
If someone is standing on the street waving at everyone who goes by, am I rude if I don't wave back?

and we would not be waving at everybody
it would be a select person or few people singled out with direct eye contact.

My point is that some people send out mass e-mails in the hope of getting a reply from someone, anyone.

I am not going to be guilted into validating that behavior. I have no obligation to reply and I am not rude because I don't. I think people who send out form e-mails are rude. They dont' want to meet me- they just want to meet somebody.

Forgive me if I don't fall on the floor and bow in gratitude.

you don't have to fall on the floor and bow ,you are who you are and somethings are just life lessons you will learn if you live long enough, also we never were talking about mass mailings..you seem to be getting off track ..and i am not going to fence this subject with you any longer, you do what you please and have fun doing it..i bid you good day..

So when your profile says friends, it means what?
Your not going to reply. If you don't want E-mails just say so. Even a blank page shows some respect.

I don't like the choices, I thought friend was best. It's a starting point. I like to take the time to get to know someone, I don't "cyber" & I definately won't meet a guy for sex after chatting a few times. I enjoy chatting with people from all over the world, male & female. I always reply to an e mail unless it deserves a blocking.

Umm..remind me what would deserve blocking so I can avoid that, wouldya??? lol

They should have a "form email" that is a polite brush off so that way you can glance at the profile, make your decision and if its a nay, then just hit the reply that has this pre typed letter. That would probably be helpful to the receivers but even more infuriating to the senders laugh

I'm not gay, but I might be a little bit in love with you right now....smitten

Having observed your conduct on this site, I can't imagine you doing anything that bad.flowerforyou
One hint is to use the word "rooster" when refering to a male chicken.

Respect works both ways. If someone sends out e-mails to everyone within a 50 mile radius, fails to read the profiles, doesn't bother to customize the e-mail to indicate that he has even looked at your profile - why do you owe them the time of day? Who is really the rude one? The one who is trolling and hoping to catch something in his net, or the one who sidesteps the net?
