I think sometimes there is a fear that if you respond, it will just create hope when there is no hope. Also it puts you in the position to have to explain to someone they aren’t your type and then they might argue and try to drag it out. It’s a touchy subject but I agree with you, everyone deserves common courtesy.

True hen, although if I sent that, or something to that effect, I probably would get a "why do you say that?" or some other such question prompting me to reply. But I DO feel that if you send your courtesy response and they cant take a hint, they do not need to hear it explained over and over again.

Why do people think that their decision to send an e-mail somehow obligates the other person to respond? It doesn't.

I agree with you sparkle! Although then I feel a little guilt. Have you noticed over time, the longer your profile is up or the more you post, you start getting more and more messages because you are getting more exposure. I feel like I dont know what to say and some people are far away.
