Why would God need to rule over heaven?

Are there going to be people in heaven who might do bad things if they don't have a ruler?

Will they constantly need to be threated by an all-powerful God to keep them in line?

Here's what Albert Einstein had to say about this,...

"Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." - Albert Einstein.

Is that the way heaven will be? A bunch of pathetic souls who need to have a ruler because they can't behave if they aren't being threated by punishment or promise of reward?

An eternal daycare center?

Heaven shouldn't need a ruler if it's truly heaven. No one there should be wanting to step out of line and need to be restrained by an ulimate authoritarian godhead.

This kind of heaven would be better suited to people who can't behave on their own merit.

Heaven should have no need for an ultimate authoritarian godhead. That would place it on the same level as earthy life. It would just be another governmental dictatorship with the godhead as the ultimate dictator to whom every knee bows and every tongue confesses.

Clearly there's a huge flaw with this picture. It's not a gain at all. It's just more of the same of what we already have.

You have the wrong idea of what a ruler is

God is a ruler in heaven, like a patriarch of a family. God will be a father to everyone living there. We will honor God and God will take care of us.

Ruler?...that is easy. God....

The real question...Who Is washing those flowing rainments?.....If you are doing laundry for eternity....it ain't Heaven. Let's face it...if someone is making those rainments sparkle with pure whiteytude....they are working!

Colour me wrong....

Does someone get boned into doing laundry for Heaven for eternity?.....Or does God just make you togas sparkling clean?

Who polishes the Harps?

Satan sends up a few illegals to do the housework.
That will teach them to actually expect charity in a christian society

Revelation 21:6-7

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

There isn't too much about heaven in the Bible or how heaven will work. This is one verse that I can think of off the top of my head. Sorry I can't be of more help, you might want to try a Christian book store and look for a study on "Heaven".

duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is why is heaven.
God won't be a ruler. He will be the loving Father who He is.
It surprises me that such an intelligent man comes up with such childish reasoning.

What kind of 'care' do you think we might need in heaven?

Food? Clothing? Shelter? Love? Protection? (Protection from what?)

I am not being sarcastic here. I really want to know what you think about how or why we will need the care of God in heaven, and what this care entails.

I never understood the thought of that either...If we do indeed die and go to a place where we will be judged..if we have some sense of free will still...if we think using our brains as we know it now...Heaven just sounds like something that can't possibly exists..there will always be war to compete for power..

on the contrary...if we do go to heaven...in a different "form"...not thinking the way we do...are we just programed to serve this God without thought? Like mindless drones? [It sounds harsh but I can't help the way I feel towards it]. In my mind the possibilities are endless...

I used to go to church 3 times a week...until I started to feel like I was some Rat in a cage with a maze...could I really be created for the soul purpose of worshiping God? A being that vain? Nah I thought to myself...it can't be that way...I believe there is a higher power...but I got no idea what it is and I just don't believe what I was taught as a kid [catholic]. ..

I try to live my life with faith in myself, to be a strong person inside and out, and to learn all I can about my body and my spirit. I'll deal with death when death comes. Until then, I can't solve a puzzle if I can't even solve my own life's puzzle. Whatever did create the world, if it even was some sort of life form, I do not take this life for granted.

Religion and God play roles in lots of people's lives tho...for some, it is the only way to get through the day and that is perfectly fine..it creates harmony for that individual...for me, my life is run with question and awe, and to be honest, I love it that way. Can't say it creates harmony for me all the time tho lol

I know some people would disagree with what I say, perfectly fine. You can learn a lot from people that think differently.

Well if you look at the human suffering from the curse we live under tell me who rules that but the devil????

God is who He is...that's all anyone needs to know.

Well actually heaven is going to be GRRRREAT! We will truly be free once the curse is lifted. We will never have to worry about judgement or all those things.

Whenever I go riding through & beautiful neighborhood on a spring day or go tubing down a lazy river I think, "This is what heaven will be like...only better!!!"

I'm not sure why people think a relationship with God is druggery????? Don't get that at all.

Belushi already asked this question and I said that I don't know for sure. The Bible isn't clear on what heaven will be like, other than that God will be there as our father. I would guess that God will do what a father would do: Give us company, love and guidance, while providing for us what we need to survive.

Do you think survival will be an issue in Heaven?

I respect that you said you don't know because the Bible does not say much about it, but after all, if this is where you are going to be spending eternity I would have thought that you might want to know more about what you will be doing in Heaven for eternity and at least given it a little more thought.

Having the company of God is nice of course, but what kind of guidance do you imagine you will be needing? Guidance for what? What do people actually do in Heaven for eternity?

Have you not even given it any thought? Will there be things to do, will you have a job? Will you have a house? Will you be a servant or will you have servants? Will you eat? Is there sex? What kind of existence is in this place you call Heaven?

Has anyone given this any thought at all? This is eternity you are talking about.... will you be sentenced to eternity as a servant or will you be bored with nothing to do for eternity?

I think we live in a world ruled by cause and effect for the most part. The Devil rules over the earth? If I were to believe that, that's like believing Satan has a whole lot more power than God if God just allows this to happen.

I believe we are in control of our own lives, we make the mistakes we make and can blame no one but ourselves. Sad to say that the mistakes of the higher powers here on earth, such as governments etc., cause the whole world to suffer as an effect of their decisions. Every human has Good and evil inside, it's their decision to make if they live one side or the other.

That's what I think. If I believed Satan or God controlled people out here...I'd be admitting I'm some puppet with someone pulling the strings to make me move. What kind of life would that be?

It's nice to believe there is something beautiful after death, There may be. Until death though, we make the decisions here. We decide where we go, what we do, what we say, how we think. I'll never believe there is some force out there that would take control of humans to make them do what they want them to do...

I'm open minded...When I do pass on, if I am greeted by God, or a being that is thought of as God, I would gladly shake this beings hand. I would have a lot to learn from this being, and quite a journey to take. It's just, until then, I can't think this being would either allow or not allow things to flow on their own. I just refuse to think of humans as pawns on a chessboard being played with. Maybe it's my ego...but I want to believe our life is actually important to us..

But I do see your point, and how you feel. My mother sees evil humans as enslaved by Satan. Evil is what it is. It has many names. I'm just saying my opinion I guess...I would hope to think we humans, are more than meets the eye...I've had strange experiences, and seen things I just can't explain. Some people would consider them of religious origins, others spiritual. The Good and Evil theme of the world, seems to be a balance of everything...

The way I see the world, is there are many possibilities in both life and death. If I do die and go up to a place like heaven and meet someone I used to know on earth that says "see man, I told you so." I'd just laugh and think to myself, well I'm glad he/she was right, it never sounded like a bad place to begin with lol.

it's not so much that some people hate to believe that a place like that exists...its the fact that conditions have to be met, and some conditions may seem ridiculous to them..I just think if you live a good life, try your hardest, create many good memories and learn from the bad ones, be thankful for your life...and Die with a smile on your face, things "hopefully" will get better.

well lets look at a few statements in the bible, when asked by others Jesus states that there will no marriage in heaven, so if having sex outside of marriage is a sin, then there will be no sex, maybe not even sex organs with the resurrected bodies that they will have.

This also means that angels will or didn't have sex either - but wait! - doesn't it also say in the old testament that fallen angels had sex with human women? HMMM??? dilemma, dilemma. but then again they were fallen, so maybe they had grown sex organs after they fell - hahaha

though it states that Jesus eats after he is in his resurrected body, it does not state food will be necessary to live. it gives the impression that there will be no need for food, yet it also states there will be fruit bearing trees like in the garden of Eden?? hmmm?? so it sound like if you want to eat you can but its not necessary to, if you eat and drink will there be "bathrooms"?
hmmm?? will we even have digestive systems?

do i want to live for infinity never tasting food again? do i want to never experience having sex again, OK that's 2 strikes against it so far, would i like never to have a stomach again or gas - hahaha welllllllll - yes but not if it means i can't have lobster and fillet Mignon and the other wonderful things to eat. Can i live eternity with out having a woman to make love to?? hMMM? yes - but who would want to if you could?

OK back with more later - hahaha

I think these are legitimate questions to ask.

I asked once if we will eat food in heaven and if so, are there bathrooms, and if so, are there plumbers, and if so, who is the plumber? God? Or do we, as residents of heaven have ordinary jobs like plumbers? If so, do we get paid? If not, why not? Is all the food and rent free?

If everything is free, then why should we work at ordinary jobs?

I can understand that there will be no marriage. Thank God for that. But I think there will be orgasms. Not just ordinary sex. You shake hands with someone, and you have orgasmic joy spasms. Robert Monroe describes this in his books about his journeys out of the body.

laugh my majik flute will not be happy to hear that!! so does that mean if i shake hands with a man i will have an orgasm? or a little girl? sound rather sick to me -

what i was really getting at is that it will be an expierience that will be devoid of mankinds 2 biggest appetites. Is that heaven? wil not we get bored to unobtainable death? even if we do work, what type of fullfillment will it be if all knowledge is had by those there, does this mean we will have no creative abilities? will we still have free will to do as we please as long as no rules are broken? will it be true we just stand in front of god all day like the angels singing holy, holy, holy,? FOR ETERNITY????? WHEWWWWW!!

somebody better come up with some good answers or else i surely donot want to go there i'd rather just die and end it all.

Why would God need to rule over heaven?

Well, just think: A place inside a spiritual Schwarzschild radius, inhabited by post-human entities with infinite time on their hands and no non-believers to kill/slander/pile Schadenfreude upon, converging on only one source of Narcissistic Supply? Like an infinite series of Fibonacci sequences duking it out for ever smaller bits of the Divine Notice?

After a few hundred million years it could get real ugly without something to Heisenburg the whole enchalada, don't you think?
