So am I a racist because I call a criminal a criminal, that I don't think its my duty to learn another language. Im 47 years old, meaning I have paid taxes for 31 plus years, I served this country's military for 8 years, I own a house and pay property taxes, I have raised a daughter with out help from no one. So I speak my mind about things that affect me and my child, does that make me racist??? Just asking>>>

Im leaving this thread because draggoness is bringing her unjustified bigotry talk into the debate and I really dont want to hear it!

I am sorry Fanta, it was not directed at you personally it was a statement of fact. Racist are loving the hell out of the illegal situation utilizing it in political arenas to perpetrate their hatred.

One of the racists favorite things to bring up is the pressing of one for english on the phones.

Racists cannot just put their hatred out there in its straight ugly form they must mask it so that more people will buy into it.

English as the "legal" language was one of their causes. We are not an orginally english speaking country, we were a native American speaking country so we all need to learn Native tongues if we are to be correct by this standard. And then convert all people who come here to speak Native tongue as a requirement of this country being politically correct.

I just post my warning bells when I hear them because these racists who are active in our political and social systems are dangerous to this country and the fabric of this country.

They and them are often terms used when pointing the finger or when the user is unable to identify some group or person the speaker is afraid of.

They and them are possesive adjs and pronouns. When used they speak of a group. It has nothing to do with bigotry and is commonly referred as such by those, them or they that would so eagerly give up what many of us have been willing to lay our lives down for.
The privilege of being called American citizens, and that includes them who choose to immigrate here legally.

The statement,

They and them are often terms used when pointing the finger or when the user is unable to identify some group or person the speaker is afraid of.

Is one often used by those who cant understand what that commitment means and have nothing left to say in their argument!

If I say Americans are proud of their country, or I saw them at the fair does that mean Im a bigot or afraid of someone?

Don't apologize for me. I do speak from fact.
I see them refuse, when the bill was up in Congress last year my college had to hire teachers there were so many enrolling in the English as a second language courses. To have any chance of becoming a citizen it was a requirement in the bill.

As soon as the bill failed they all dropped out causing the college to release all the newly hired teachers.

The Illegals suddenly lost a will to learn English even though it was tax-dollar funded and free to them.
If they dont need to they dont want to its that simple.

Maybe you are insulated from that reality. If that's the case I apologize for you.

Fanta, please re read my posts, nothing I ever wrote was personal nor have I nor would I apologize for you! Want to make this clear.

I am a lead-carpenter. You do know what that is right. I had a crew, a damn good crew. They earned an average of $15 dollars an hour. They had families, mortgages, car payment, etc.
They barely made ends meet week to week but they managed.

Then my employer decided to lay everyone off but me, and hire an all illegal immigrant crew for me to work at $7 dollars a man per hour.
They couldnt speak English, didnt want to learn to speak English, and their work was no where near the quality of my old crew.

Oh, my old crew were offered their jobs back but at the same $7 an hour as the illegals. They could not afford that and why should they be asked to.

If you think that isnt taking the jobs of Americans then I'll apologize for you again!

and you blame the illegals for this not the employer??? misplaced aggression is my opinion.

Again, let's keep it impersonal on these forums Fanta, never have I once disrespected you nor will I allow you to try and belittle me for not believing as you do!

I do not mean to belittle you fran. It just comes over in print wrong I guess. I apologize if it seems I did! I've always respected you opinion.drinker

Isn't amazing what people of bad faith will come up with, and make up out of thin air just for the perverse pleasure of spreading gratuitous calumnies.

Have racist tendencies, or subtle redneck dispositions, as you may, but be clear that caluminies is the signature of coward like intent.

When there are no scandals, and a man character is clean, calumnies will only come right back to bite the author up that place where sun rays don't reach.

..in today's times it's VERY impolite to assume... ASSUME makes an AZZ out of U & ME...

We only have control over ourselves so please...don't assume what someone ELSE is thinking. Bad manners for sure... not to mention pious & arrogant.

Another post from a die-hard xenophobe!

I LOVE foreign languages, and wish that all of us in the US knew several.

Obama's commitment to the education of ALL our children, regardless of native tongue, is commendable and praiseworthy.

Obama cares deeply about our children and their future.

He will make a worthy, honorable and productive president.

McCain is a decent man, though I think he is far less capable than Obama. Both men deserve to be treated with respect: hatred directed toward either is vile and toxic.

Those who besmirch Obama, as this poster does here and has elsewhere, through hate-materials are beneath contempt, for they seek to poison our society with their hatred.

Oceans

I am amazed at the arrogance of those who think they can call names at anyone for disagreeing with their POV.

It's a FREE country & people can speak as many languages as they want but the OFFICIAL language should remain English... not German Spanish or Greek. OK? It isn't a racist remark at all & I'm tired of people who make it such.

GET A LIFE!

Before the government looked the other way concerning illegal immigration. Before we had 12-24 million non-English speaking, illegal immigrants here we didn't have to push a button to talk on the phone.

Like I said earlier that is the only thing that drives this debate.

Learning another language in school has always been a choice in this country. There is nothing new going on in school today than went on in 1966. Other than the number of illegal immigrants children occupying seats in our schools.

And this is a big SO WHAT!!!! I do not see millions of cases of carpel tunnel from pressing one on the dam phone, sheesh.

The big deal is they are here illegally and then they refuse to learn to speak the language.
I dont see any special provisions being made for the millions who come here legally every year.
We do lead the world in LEGAL immigration tou know!

Why should they who are willing to become a citizen legally and learn English as well as the other 300 million Americans have to push a 1 to speak our language on the phone?
What makes them so special?

What these people so easily forget is there is ALOT of slave trade, & illegals are their MAIN target. They are all over the place & I get tired of trying to talk with people who shake their head & don't understand anything I am saying.

It's not just mexicans...asians are being exploited too...and many others too.

For our govt. to allow this travesty by making up offical docs. in any language just pisses me off!!!!

It should outrage everyone. We should have standards all the way around. For those who think this is fine are the ones who are really uninformed. BTW...there are perfectly viable reasons for having standards.

laugh You know I only know like 3 signs in sign language and you don't want to know what they are!laugh

yet sign language could be the best way to communicate. It doesn't have accents, slang, it is universal isn't it?

So make it a requirement to learn sign language if one cannot learn a langauge easy! I am sure one can just use their hands or fingers!

but wait what happens if you don't have fingers???

ouch!

okay forget about it learn a freakin language!laugh

Now that I think about it why not 2 years minimum requirements in school in "art communication"!

A universal drawing communication should be invented. Just draw pictures when you talk to people.

For example draw a pack of condoms and that means you want safe sex!

There you go problem resolved and everyone can communicate in peace!

Voila!
