I'm old enough to remember 3 slices of pizza and a small coke for 85 cents....

When I first started driving gas was between 45-50 cents a gallon.

Oh good, now I feel older than dirt

Sheeesh...

noway

I NEVER had a metal lunch-boxsad

think

Come to think of it...Plastic either..noway

think

I carried my lunch to school in either a 'Krey Pure Lard' or a 'Cudahy's Lard' 4-lb bucket.

Mother would alternate days... (some kids used the same bucket every school-day) so I felt like I was 'Special'biggrin

Now I know it was just so she could make sure it was kept sanitary inside, so I wouldn't get sick.

Only ones that felt left out was the ones that HAD fancy lunch boxes...

Thanks for jogging my memory.. I got that same warm feeling just remembering, as I did at lunch-time finding that 'special treat Mother always "hid" at the bottom of those old buckets..biggrin flowers

I had an Arabesque Ballerina metal lunch box through grade school. happy

"The Call of the Wild" was my first paperback book. All the library books were hard cover, so it was new to me, though not to the market.

I believe the first paperbacks were produced during WWII in Germany to make approved literature more affordable to the masses.

H.R. Puff-n-stuff metal lunch box with a thermos. Mom made our lunch every day... two sammiches (one PB & Jelly, One, bologna and cheese), a package of crackers or chips, a fruit and a little debbie snack cake.
