@ 6 yo family moved to the midwest. Yep, on a farm. Even the young learn what a days work means. From ages 6-10 I worked with harvest crews, had other chores, learned to drive tractors, ride horses, fish streams.

I learned to shake a hand and look in the eye, respect your elders, without your word you have nothing, your a minute early or you're late, you take care of your family friends and community (in that order), if you have the possibility help someone - that's a gift TO YOU.........

all those howdy neighbor core values...OH..and Main St. has eyes so you'll never go hungry, lack for attention, or get away with crap.

I have such an affinity for that (Tom Sawyer) time and those values, and cherish it SO much.

Once returning to Cali and getting involved with the surf culture, it's amazing the similarities in the community, loyalty, and earth stewardship areas.

LouLou was a name given to me as a child by a close, loving family friend...it describes me exactly as I was then. A real 'lou-lou'! Although this sweet man is long gone, there are a few who remain in my life that still call me 'Lou'. I like that - it recalls a special time in my otherwise rather unpleasant childhood.

Faust, because some people, believe it or not, have a hard time pronouncing my name Faustino.
