...rules.
I'm not talking about anybody in specific. Here is what I think about atheism. (Again I'm talking about atheism not atheists in particular.) Let's say a rebelious kid who hates the rules of the house. As soon as this kid reaches 18 years old (or even before) flees the house because he/she just can't live within his/her parents rule. Ergo, leaving the house is kind of a denial towards his/her parents. As far as I understand God is my Father, so it's absolutely natural for Him to impose certain rules within which I have to live by. After all while a child lives in his/her parents house he/she has to be bound by their rules. The thing with God is that I never leave His house, so I have to follow His commands all my life. Now if I'm a rebelious child and I hate the rules imposed by my Father what is the easy way out denying my Father and leaving Him. After I do that the natural step is finding all the flaws in my Father's rules, which are not His flaws because He is perfect, but these flaws are my own flaws which I try to project towards Him so I have the illusion of being righteous. All these show my arrogance, and my lack of understanding that in the same way I was created by Him, all what is my life and its surroundings is dominated by Him. Just my very own personal view applied to myself, if I were to have to adopt an atheistic position. TLW |

TLW Why can't your father talk to you directly or make it easier for you to see what he wants like when you need food or sex . Why would he send you a man in thousands of years ago to teach you ?. add to that all contradictions .....etc . It just does not make sense . I am tired of the same songs again and again . Cars are made from blue prints and not by one single engineer . So there is no proof we have only one creator and not many creators ....etc . . Add to that , the misery of : how can something starting from zero ( nothing ) can create anything at all . The bible is a primitive book with primitive ideas , full of contradictions and non sense . it takes a year to expain all the garbage in any religion . |

so my question TLW- do you feel this applies to just atheists? or anyone who is not considered a christian? my friend, mine is a very general statement. I'm not pointing out any group in particular. Again, as I have stated too many times. In most of ocassions "christian" is just a name we use, and not a way of life as it should be. Sometimes atheists are way better people than some christians. |

lol nope i was talking about a person who absolutely denies God's existance. what about now? you see I can't say any god because I believe in just one God. so my answer will remain as: "a person who denies God." If you read my posts most of them don't even talk about christianity. I mainly talk about God, and my relationship with Him. Regardless the fact I'm a christian catholic. Except, ofcourse, in the ocassions when I specificly talk about something related to the Church which is not the case in this thread. |

It is apparent that you do not work in a creative environment. All designs eminate from a single source. Input may come from other sources - but the original creation of ANYTHING comes from a single designer. Be it a car, a house, etc. Then that design goes to a draftsman - who merely transfers the design into executable plans. This, as an example of life - is enough to reason out to the creation of the world coming from a single source. And the next time you state that the bible is "full of contradictions" - please, don't be selfish, share them all with us. |

For me...I look at the athiest belief in this manner:
It's like a child who has never known their father (not in the sense of a Christian reborn who now knows their father...but in the sense that they have no memory of ever seeing, speaking, touching, playing with that father.) So...to that child, did they have a father? Who was their father? What did he look like? Why wasn't he there when they needed him? Why should they listen to someone who isn't there? Now logic tells that person that yes...they were created somehow (obviously) but it is impossible to put a face and a name on that creator. As to the rules...really, the "rules" of Christianity are not much different than normal moral rules. "Don't kill" "don't adulter" etc etc. So I don't believe that it is a "running away from the rules" thing as it is so much a thing that there is no real way of knowing of where we came from, who created us, etc etc until we die and finally find out. Some (like my sister) have decided that rather than "waste" their entire lives trying to find that one right religion and belief, they're just going to live their lives to the best of their ability and let their questions be answered when they die. Or they look at the history of the religion, the way the religion is currently...and decide that, based upon those facts, they just can't associate themselves with a religion that would do (fill in blank here). |

You're welcome :) I spent a portion of my teenage life as an athiest (now I guess I would be..erm...agnostic maybe? dunno lol) So I spent a lot of time looking at it from a lot of different angles. :) I'm glad I could help :D |
