......if it was me i would press charges

as some say on this site

"nough said

And you would get laughed at and escorted to the nearest door.... and there is no attorney who would back you up, I do not think even the ACLU would support you on this one!

Pray tell, what is your problem with the police making sure a residence is safe?

You make absolutely no sense at all.noway

Lindyy

so much for agreeing to disagree

i guess you decided not to

and they illegally entered the house they had no warrent and no probable cause they are lucky no one died

if someone would of then the cops would have been responsible

---------------

Amendment Four

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures , shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue , but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I would be VERY thankful for any officer that woke me to tell me garage door open.
I think it would be GREAT public relations for them to do that.
Door open also & kids wouldn't go up & wake the owner.
Back the officers ALL THE WAY.

It is your right to think any way YOU would want this done.
But I think it was a GREAT THING.

Opinions & azzholes, everyone has one, some just bigger & stinker than others.

I qualify in there somewhere.

i understand your point but they still violated the forth amendment regardless granted this time the inentions were good

but maybe next time with another cop the intentions will be different and i am not open for the chance to happen

like i said i would press charges and if they would not apply the charges i woul sue the city

and after winning the case i would donate the money to some aspect of the city i approved of maybe parks and recreation

but i am not in favor of illegal entry by any law enforcement officer no matter what the intention

Those are all interesting "what if" situations Ms. Rapunzel, but not applicable to this circumstance. I apologizing if I am wrong, but no where did I read there was a suspicion or inkling of any wrong doing inside home. They may have acted with good intentions but not legal (jmo)flowerforyou

flowerforyou Hello there ...Ms. Franshade ~flowerforyou

drinker i do respect your comments drinker

although i was talking with Adj about freedoms :

and the rights for police to enter our homes...

and i don't understand how you could say or think

that these situations i suggest, would not apply ~ drinker

i also believe that there was plenty of reason drinker

for the police to question the safety & security huh

& health of the occupants in that house ~ big time, glasses

<quote> from the first post...

"The officers told Molde his garage door was open,
the TV was on, the keys to his truck were left
in the ignition and the door to his house was ajar. "

i'm thinking.....

how many reasons does one need

to see a possible bad situation??? frown

In original post, officers stated those things, garage door open (not a crime); keys in ignition (forgotten in haste of getting into home); door ajar (mistake); I am not trying to be facetious I truly dont believe this offered these officers a way of legal entry. Officers ask children (under 7, and it is not specified how these kids came to be awake, were already awake or were they awaken by officers (this really interests me)for permission to enter, something truly doesnt sit right in the pit of my stomach with the limited information supplied in article.

like I said, not making judgements - just doubtful this is complete info supplied - too many loopholes for my taste.

Sorry would have commented earlier but I was away. The 4th amendment has no standing in this case. The 4th amendment only applies to unlawful searches and seizures of evidence. Since the cops were not entering the house on the grounds of trying to search or seize any property of the home owner. The fourth amendment rights of the individual were not violated.
