Why not use their own funds to pay for their own campaign and appropriate the 84 million available per candidate towards getting the rest of America out of debt.
but what do I know (lol adj ) |

Doesn't make sense why he needs to use the money when MoveOn.org is going to funnel tens of millions into the campaign as is George Soros alone by funneling millions into his numerous organizations to campaign for Obama and attack Mccain.
And, funny thing is Obama said he is pulling out of public financing because there are going to be sooo many smear ads against him he will have to use all that money to counterattack. Come on. The American Federation of State, Country, and Municipal Employees and MoveOn.org are just about to release a new attack ad on Mccain. "In the spot, titled "Not Alex," a young mother -- her hair unkempt, perhaps from lying awake at night, worrying about the fate of her baby boy under a McCain presidency -- gushes over her son, then looks into the camera and asks McCain if he was counting on him when he said he would stay in Iraq for 100 years. "Because if you were," she says, her voice cracking. "You can't have him."" - http://theunionnews.blogspot.com/2008/06/afscme-soros-scramble-political-cash.html And, the begin of the general campaign attack ads begins. |

From the same article:
Obama said: "But the public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken, and we face opponents who've become masters at gaming this broken system." - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080619/ap_on_el_pr/obama_money You mean like MoveOn.org and George Soros who are going to throw everything they possibly can into the race to get you elected? This campaign is going to get insanely expensive and outrageous. It's going to get real vicious. |

http://news.aol.com/?feature=20080619101609990002 obama said he would use public finance for election then opps out is it a big deal or not No! Considering how much longer it took to finish the Democrat primary. Besides, McCain is violating the rules for accepting the money so why honor anything. Of course I see you left that little detail out! McCain, who had been entitled to $5.8 million in federal funds for the primary, has decided to bypass the system so he can avoid spending limits between now and the GOP's national convention in September. Federal Election Commission Chairman David Mason notified McCain last week that he can only withdraw from public financing if he answers questions about a campaign loan and obtains approval from four members of the six-member commission. Such approval is doubtful in the short term because the commission has four vacancies and cannot convene a quorum. "John McCain poses as a reformer but seems to think reforms apply to everyone but him," Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Sunday. he DNC said it plans to formally seek an FEC investigation Monday. McCain and Obama both declined public financing in the primary contests, thus avoiding the spending limits that come with the money. McCain had initially applied for the money, however, and has been in a dispute with the Federal Election Commission over whether he needed its approval to decline the funds. The FEC insists that he does, but has not had a quorum to act because four of its six seats have been vacant pending Senate confirmation of presidential nominees. McCain lawyers have disputed the need for FEC approval. http://www.capitolhillblue.com/cont/node/4655 |

Declare Your Independence
Barack Obama just announced a major strategic decision -- this campaign will not participate in the broken public financing system for the general election. Our opponents are dedicated to manipulating this broken system to raise as much money as possible -- and they've proven they are very good at it. To compete, Barack has decided to keep putting his faith in ordinary people like you giving only what you can afford. Make your first contribution to Join Barack today, and declare your independence from our broken system. https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/independencefeature |

Not to mention the Republicans blatantly take money from lobyists. The biggest problem with the Gov in the USA today is Corporate boought Politicians.. Damn Republicans!! Barack takes money from lobbyists too. However, he lies by saying he doesn't, unlike many. And, he takes money from the organization run by a multi-billionaire who made his fortune by breaking the bank of England. He now owns a place in the Ukraine government. He also has founded numerous extremely far left organizations who do political hitjobs and put out and will put out numerous hitjobs this election season. They are also one of the main reasons, as is Soros, why Obama has so much money in his camp. |
