 Celibacy is "sexual release" Well, if you allow that celibate priests can masturbate then that's a different story. Most people use the term 'celibacy' to mean to refrain from any sexual activity whatsoever, and that would mean no sexual release. So yes, for most people Celibacy = No Sexual Release. Masturbation is out. Sorry. Abra just answered that. |

Thats a crock and nothing has been proven
They have enough evidence to convince me. 
I guess we all choose to decide what we accept as "proof". Besides it's perfectly clear that we are seuxal beings. That part can't be denied. So I still hold that to deny the creation is to deny the creator. Hardly a pious thing to do.

Christians that are truly born again, want to please God, simply because they Love the Lord. True born again christians are still in the world, but not of the world...meaning they have no desire to partake of the world's ways anymore...they wish to please God....because they have become new creatures in Christ. Born again christians may still sin, but will never choose to "willingly" sin.....not without grieving the Holy Spirit living within a christian now. |

Why cant you understand an act of love for what it is ? When did I ever say it was an unloving act? I merely said that it was unhealthy. And then I also suggested that because it's unhealthy it's ultimately an act of disrepect toward the creator. But clearly the people who practice celebacy for pious reasons aren't thinking that way. I understand that. I'm just hoping to awaken people who might think that it's pious. 
I certainly wouldn't have any disrespect for a person who practices celibacy. Hell, I practice celibacy myself (er,... well maybe not if we count masturbation )
In fact, if we count masturbation I'm pretty darn healthy.

Humans seemed to have evolved or developed religion/spirituality as a means of overcoming their base animal desires and urges, even their basic survival instincts. Its a perfectly natural phenomenon unique to human beings.

I would have to disagree with you about it being unhealthy. Living in a hypersexual society is what is unhealthy. Why do you think people of devotion generally try to live apart from mainstream society? It makes practices such a celibacy much easier.
