Sex may be a basic need for you. It is not a basic need for everyone. It is a basic need for EVERYONE. God put it there so the population would increase. It is basic animal instinct. Not everyone is a basic animal Maybe you are, but Im not and I know alot of others who arnt either.

It has been physiologically proven that celibacy is unhealthy, both physically and mentally. It is therefore absurd to suggest that celibacy represents any kind of purity since it is clearly unhealthy and therefore detrimental. Nothing pure could possibly be detrimental. The whole idea that sexual release has anything at all to do with spirituality is absurd. It's just another demented idea from that archaic book that people insist is the word of a supreme being. Surely the creator of human beings would realize that sexual frustration and orgasmic abstinence are unhealthy to the human condition and would therefore never expect it of anyone. It is necessarily an impure condition in its own right. Unreleased sexual energy is detrimental to the physical body and the brain. We were created to be sexual machines. To deny the essence of our creation is to deny God, not worship God.

Do you think celibacy is necessary for a religious leader? Do you think celibacy adds to the pious nature of anyone who practices it? If your are answering from a Christian perspective, please feel free to use Biblical scripture to explain your beliefs in this matter. As a horny man who likes women I find celibacy an act of stupidity and against nature .

Celebacy in MOST people leads to perversion. There are several examples of that with priests in the RCC.

Thats a crock and nothing has been proven They have enough evidence to convince me. I guess we all choose to decide what we accept as "proof". Besides it's perfectly clear that we are seuxal beings. That part can't be denied. So I still hold that to deny the creation is to deny the creator. Hardly a pious thing to do.

(not you personally) You are right!! There are a lot on NON-celibate perverts. Don't even get me started there. Right now we are only talking about celibacy and it's tendancy, in my opinion, to cause perversion. God may not HAVE to intervine....but it sure would HELP! Self-control....I admit...I don't have much of it.

Celibacy is "sexual release" Well, if you allow that celibate priests can masturbate then that's a different story. Most people use the term 'celibacy' to mean to refrain from any sexual activity whatsoever, and that would mean no sexual release. So yes, for most people Celibacy = No Sexual Release. Masturbation is out. Sorry.

Masturbation is out. Im not talking about priests. Im speaking of a religious devotion that has been practiced for thousands maybe millions of years by countless numbers of human beings who loved their gods more than they loved themselves. An act of love Why is that so hard for some to understand?
