Oh yeah..... I swear there would be no suppression hearing on that one. laugh

CDaddy, I'm afraid I've got to bow out at this point. There are people who post in these type threads that are just not able to talk about the situation and I cannot get involved in another gun thread. Sigh....

Flirt more later....

there are no accidental shooting. It's lack of education.
gun contorl is hitting what you aim at

Well....it certainly is an example of being STUPID with a gun and a small child around. I'm sure the two can co-exist as long as the owner of the gun is responsible.

Exactly, and very well put. If this grandmother ahd a permit to carry, then I sure as hell hope it has been revoked.

We do not need more gun control, or removal of our rights to bear arms. what we need is proper training and education, as well as personal responsibility. In the case of this article, the grandmother was grossly negligent, and thus shown she is not responsible enough to carry a weapon. So revoke the permit, fine her for her stupidity and negligence, and carry on (In this specific case I dont say imprison cause I think she will punish herself more, than nay prison system possibly could).

Although some of the things you say I don't agree with it doesn't mean to say we get emotional right?flowerforyou By the way grandma was a magistrate who had a permit but nevertheless an idiot yet again like many more littering the institute s of law and order

Americans have the fundamental right to bare arms. I find it unbelievable that if the gun is working for you (ei protecting you are someone) everyone sings the praises of the gun owner, if there is a mishap then it's guns are evil.

I own guns, have shot a person in self defense (he was going to rape me, but got to my gun) and guess what, I PROTECTED MYSELF. Guns are tools, that is all they will ever be. You wouldn't leave a four yearold right next to a knife or a weedwacker. Grandma was an idiot but the GUN didn't do anything but its designed purpose.

Also, grandma wasn't doing a very good job at watching the kid. I mean, do you normally let your grandkid play in your purse.

I appreciate that you were almost a rape victm and I know the memory of the incident is painful.
I acknowledge that and again I am not going to say right or wrong

I want to merely point out say in England for example there are women who escape the rape using taser guns stunning the offender for 45 minutes until police arrives.

I want to leave you with a notion that if the rapist had had a gun the chances are I would not have had the pleasure of this debate with you and that is the point.flowerforyou

Greetings everyone,
With violent crimes everywhere you look, more people are arming themselves. There are not enough police to "Protect & Serve" everyone at all times. Without personal protection we all become vulnerable to what ever whims the criminals choose.
If an attack against this "Grandmother, and the child" was to occure, she could not save the child or herself unarmed. I have such a permit, to carry a weapon, but I also have the training to keep the weapon in a safe secure place on my person, and only I can access it. TRAINING being the key word. I have never had to use it, and Pray I never have to, but to save the life of a child under attack, or her Grandmother, I would.
When the training class is taken, we learn where, when, how, and most importantly WHY to use the weapon. I am not a hunter,
but I also am not a willing victem, and would run to safety rather than take a life, but I do not wish to be at the mercy of one that has already displayed the intent to harm another, with no regard to life.
Unfortunate the weapon was not in a safe location, out of reach of an infant, thus TRAINING!!!

well i'll say this. every time i stop someone on the street or go to someones house there is a possibility that i'm not the only person there with a gun. that is very scary to think about. i have had prisoners searched at the jail that had a gun on them and i had missed it during the arrest. it happens. accidents happen. that grandmother made a stupid mistake. maybe she forgot the gun was in there. who knows? maybe she had no intentions of having the child in the car that day but had to go pick her up. nobody knows what happened. anyway, people make mistakes. no reason to throw her under the bus. how many of us have unintentionally put our children in harms way. probably more than would admit it. ever lost your kid in a store????
