I have known people who carry concealed guns and when they have to go in someplace where they are no allowed to carry them, they leave them in their glove compartment. That is NOT a secure place to leave a gun. Nor are Riffle racks and cases just so you can display them.

Grandmother's gun. The child reached into her grandmothers, purse which was sitting beside her in the cart at Wal-Mart. Then shot herself while the grandmother looked on helplessly.

To me this is just another example of the danger of our gun culture. The gun was unsecured and anyone could have gained access to the gun. People always argue that criminals can get guns so easily, I wonder how many of those guns come from people with permits who carelessly leave them around unsecured.

This really has little to do with actual gun control. This is a case of one person being an idiot. I own guns, but they are and always will be unless they are needed locked in our gun safe.
Do you carry it with you in Walmart?
I have carried at certain times, like when me and my abusive ex split. But leaving it right next to a four year old? crazy

I disagree, a glove box, locked in a locked car is a secured firearm, c'mon, now if you leave it in the open thats an invitation to get robbed, guess you want a trigger lock, with the ammo in the trunk and the gun in the glove box, so when you need it, you can ask the criminal to give you just a second while you unlock the glove box, take off the trigger lock, get your ammo out of the trunk and load up firstlaugh

It is a good job guns are banned in England. No guns.
Police in every day life streets no guns too.
Only time the S.W.A.T team comes out there is guns and that is normally to a response to a criminal activity where guns have been used.

lets not get all anti gun here. remember, guns dont kill people, people kill people. its sad that the little kid got killed.

blame the grandma all you want. you would all be singing a different tune if grandma had shot a man trying to kidnap that kid. all of a sudden she would be smart grandma for taking a gun to walmart.

too true

Hmm Just found the story...says the grandmother is a magistrate judge. Wonder if she carries the gun for a reason....judges get targeted sometimes...just a thought.

Yeah, well this aint England pal, Now if California, DC and New York to name a few, have their way, none of us will have guns either, curious how the most restrictive gun ownership areas have the really high crime rates

Americans have the fundamental right to bare arms. I find it unbelievable that if the gun is working for you (ei protecting you are someone) everyone sings the praises of the gun owner, if there is a mishap then it's guns are evil.

I own guns, have shot a person in self defense (he was going to rape me, but got to my gun) and guess what, I PROTECTED MYSELF. Guns are tools, that is all they will ever be. You wouldn't leave a four yearold right next to a knife or a weedwacker. Grandma was an idiot but the GUN didn't do anything but its designed purpose.

Thete is no problem with second amendment just the same way there is no problem with the Bible. The problem may be that each were written for times long gone and I am not saying they are wrong but just quoting them blindly is not a correct position either.flowerforyou
