I'm sure religion will again step in to screw up the real issues. It'll be fun, yet again.

Truthfully, we're in trouble anyway. The next President will have little pull against the wind that is our ever-widening trade deficit.

Time for us to buck up and accept a lower standard of living. We're too pricy in a world economy and the only way to move in the correct direction is to stop outsourcing and pay more for American goods and services. That requires us to have less disposable income and we are too greedy to make the hard choices to benefit the next generation.

Thoughts?

I agree.

The United States consumes way too much for it's size.

I think we'll have to eventually adopt something like the European model, as much as libertarians and laissez-faire capitalists hate to hear that.

More socialism, smaller cars, lower speed limits, more conservation, etc...

Thank God I'm not the only one who agrees that Gecko-ism (as in Gordon) is NOT the MO of a conservative society.

Amen on the European model. Our issue is overcoming the size of our land. Public transportation infrastructure will be critical to us stream-lining society.

If you think for one minute the citizens of the USA will tolerate socialism, please think again. Only the lazy, want free hand outs will go for socialism, you can bet your life the rest of us will revolt. Just look at how Welfare got turned against and, even though I hate to admit it, Clinton did a big overhaul on it.

The USA is the great country it is because its standards are superior to thoe of Europe - any country. There is not one country in Europe that I would feel better off in, or even adopting some of its governing ways.

Yeah, architect. As in evil architect.

Just like the Architect in The Matrix.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architect_(The_Matrix)

The Matrix failed, just like the Bush Administration.

A lot of people thought Adolph Hitler was a genius too.

Karl Rove is a very intelligent man and has served this country long and well. That's my opinion of him, and guess what, I don't care what you think.

I respect all opinions. I agree he is intelligent.

This said, perhaps you'd care to share with us what it is he has done to serve us? Maybe I missed something. I'm open to the possibility of changing my viewpoint. flowerforyou

Thanks for joining the discussion. It's nice to discuss something other than styles of hair and paste. drinker

Dude are you serious? You are actually gonna compare Rove to Hitler? What could he have possibly done that would rival the mass extermination of the Jewish people.

This I dont! But then what is the point in trying to explain to you that this is incorrect ... dont worry about it.

There is not one country in Europe that I would feel better off in, or even adopting some of its governing ways.

How would you like to have your vote heard every time you have an opinion on something in your town?
Where the local council asks your opinion on many things (almost weekly - from the planting of trees to parking issues)?

How would you like to be able to talk to your Senator on the train as he/she goes to work in the State capital .. and he has only one job (that of senator)

How would you like to take responsibility for your actions and not claim for compensation every time something goes wrong, because it is frowned upon?

How would you like your children to grow up in a country where crime is almost non-existant amongst the indigenous population and politeness and respect for other people's property are taught in schools?

I cant see any of those things happening in the US ...

But Switzerland has them all.
