Good day everyone - I'm ready for a Chi Tea please.
We have a new comer - Chaos, hello. Wow, this place opened at the right time, what a great first retreat for a new comer. Nice to see you all. Maybe if we consider the word HUMAN from the Indian point of view then no one need be discriminated against in this thread. |

I'm so sorry I can't find a link but I remember reading, many years ago, that one of the largest Indian Tribes had a word that eventually got translated (no doubt by some egotisitical white men) into the word human.
But by Indian folklore, to be human was a very high honor. The best Chiefs were humans. Many animals were human. A human, simply, is a spirit (soul) that respects the earth, the univers, is not a glutton, takes care of thier young, and is supportive, always of peace and their community. They are peacemakers and teachers. I remember this because after that day I thought it was best to always strive to live up to a name we had stolen, I want to be remembered as HUMAN. |

OH NO YOU AREN'T Cute. I refuse to enter a known warzone except to bring a message. So I would not post this on the Atheist Coffeehouse Thread - BUT. I liked your last post. You said a great deal in a few words.
I dubb thee, HUMAN of the day. Hey maybe we should have a new Human every day and everyone who comes here should strive to be HUMAN. What do ya think? |

Good morning everyone (ok it is 1:00 pm here now but morning is figurative at times and I have the day off).... I just got back from the beach. Its beautiful but a bit cool for us- only about 78 and overcast with high winds. I have my cafe con leche and I'm trying to decide what would be fun to do for the rest of the day... Hope everyone is having a beautiful day. Good morning mirror, chaotic, karma, who, jeannie, ddn, dragoness, amber... and everyone else who comes in today! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Oh. It is a refreshing time here in the coffee house for humans. I find myself visiting the others and they are just so not refreshing. Ah back to life. BTW - This jsh is addicting. I've not done much at all today. I should have half of my house cleaned by now.

I've not done much at all today. I should have half of my house cleaned by now. So true. What I think we might need is a support group for people who are addicted. Why is it addicting? I don't know, but I really have it bad I think. ![]() ![]() ![]() JB |

Amber, JB - you must be right. If I don't get my pasta on and cut up my veggies, I won't have dinner for today or tomorrow.
Cute, you are so humble. ![]() |

They are peacemakers and teachers. I remember this because after that day I thought it was best to always strive to live up to a name we had stolen, I want to be remembered as HUMAN. Redy, ![]() That is interesting. ![]() The Hebrew language has a word describing the very same thing. It is 'nefesh', meaning a living breathing soul. It has been also translated as 'captive fish'(Isaiah 19:10, only because that passage seems to be a metaphoric allegory not well understood as a midrash) ![]() It comes from a root word meaning, "to breathe"; and passively, to be breathed upon, i.e. (fig.) refreshed (as if by a current of air) In that sense, it would seem appropriate to include flora and fauna as equally nefesh, in terms of breath, and as souls, for that matter, in that the English equivalent of that word is 'soul'. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Really neat idea. I agree. ![]() ![]() STOP AGREEING WITH PEOPLE, YOU ARE GOING TO DRIVE...HER...INTO A RAGE!!!! |
