If they looked into history at all they would know that people in every single year since the death of Christ thought that the "end was near" since it they have been wrong for 2000 years I think it is time to stop saying that. Move on to something new. Why not say Jesus says love your neighbor. Every time you get the urge to say "the end is near" just switch it to "Jesus says love your neighbor" and see if your life doesn't go better.

If we indeed are eternal spiritual beings (which I believe we are) who incarnate many times into this universe, (which I also suspect is true) then we have been here from the beginning and we will be here to see the end.
