and the assumption is what then? That things needful for the flesh are discounted altogether?

well "wouldee" you are the one that brought up that one benefit for being under christ are that christians are not hostage to covetousness ..then if that is true then why would a true christian need a luxury car or a weekend pleasure motorcycle or a large home on acres of land while knowing that his fellow man is starving ..

funches.

first, lets address your statement as being "under Christ".

I said, "in Christ". That is how Chirst depicts the gift..."in you", not "over you" . We are "in " him as he is "in" the Father and all are "one". More fodder, apparently. laugh

second, and more to the point.

You are decribing the contentious usurpers and self righteous arrogants that pervert Christianity into a dogma supplanting the truth of the scriptural integrity of the way of life "in" Jesus.

He said, "I am the way and the truth and the life."

he also said, "No man comes to the Father, but by me."

He also said, "you must be born again of water and the Spirit."

He also said, " many shall come in my name preaching another gospel, do not follow them, I did not send them." (paraphrasing that one a bit.)

He also said, "do not store your treasures in the earth where rust or moth corrupt, but store them in heaven where neither rust nor moth corrupt. Where your heart is, there shall your treasure be."

What offends both of us is the contemptible behavior and hypocrisy of churchianity. It is not Christianity.

I didn't coin the phrase.

Spurgeon used the phrase in the nineteenth century, but I cannot attribute the coining of the phrase, churchianity, necessarily to his own description of false teachers.

Clearly though, he had harbored the same disgust that you and I share for such travesties and hypocrisy spouted as Godliness.

If nothing else is on your mind, funches, I will retire myself from this discussion.

It is beginning too belabor to many off topic points.

peace, out.

"wouldee" all you have to do is answer the question since you are the one that brought up covetousness ...is it ok for true christians to be rich in material things such as luxury cars and big screen televisions and big homes on acres of land while their fellow man dies of starvation...
