I think its great that your daughter has the work ethic down but as parents its up to us to show our kids compassion because you really dont know what will happen to you in the future.............And by the way most people who are homeless have true psychological problems and that is why the are outcasts in society.........and by the way you can fill out an application but if you are homeless they usually ask you for address and phone and where is that going to come from............I think we as a community have really lost sight of having sympathy and apathy for the less fortunate............its really sad we live in a world that it we dont care about each others well being..............

I try to stay out of this debate as much as possible...

HOWEVER

My last office job was for sales for a temp sevice that catered to factories, I saw alot of the same faces in that office TIME AFTER TIME... They failed drug test, they didn't show up for work, they would call in the morning to see if you had work for them, and you would set them up for something THAT afternoon, and they would flake out and not show up. Then call 3 days later and ask for another job to go to.

I have also worked with the battered women's shelter and Haven of Rest in Akron (a homeless shelter) to do fundraisers and things, the people who NEED and WANT help get it. The ones who b*tch and whine and complain don't show up at the times they are told to get fed and sheltered.

I am a huge proponent for helping out man kind, I do things on a weekly basis for organizations that help people, but my mama told me this...

THE MOST HELPFUL HAND YOU WILL EVER FIND IS FOUND AT THE END OF YOUR OWN ARM.

THis wasnt meant for a debate or for one to say my "parenting" strategy is not up to par...It's just different then yours...Feel free to give your money away to those you dont know...I will continue to fund charities....

Secondly, no one, and I mean no one on here knows the shoes I walked in nor the path's traveled. No one here ever will...But I have worked my ass off to get where I am and I deserve every bit of my opinion drinker
I agree with this too!flowerforyou

I am a Mother of 4 kids and volunteer weekly at the local homeless shelter,, I had an incredible job and a nice savings,, went to work one morning where I was employed many years and was
let go,, down sizing,, so they say,,,, and just a few short months later I found out I had my second
Brian Tumor,,, No insurance and not able to get Medical,, because of my savings,, so yes I paid out of my pocket and was left with a few pennies to get buy..... My children and I moved in with
family and have since then gotten back on our feet,,,

So long story short,, I give to the needy,,, because I have been there looking,, wondering,, where my next meal might come from... Yes I know there alot out there who take and don't need, Yet a little Humbling of the Soul,, does a body good,,

The homeless don't have addresses. People can't receive food stamps, state health care, or state aid without an address.

I wish, like you, for people to have more empathy. I also wish they would be more altruistic.flowerforyou

To each their own and everyone here has a valid point. No one is right or wrong...Everyone does their own thing...

You give one way where I give another and we are all good honest citizens giving back in our own ways flowerforyou

The more I sit back abd think about it, I am more proud of my life and where I am and what I have, first and foremost everything goes to my daughter and myself..THat is my 100% goal all the way....
