I hate basketball but do I go to games to tell the players how stupid they are for loving their game? This is a really bad analogy. I have never said that anyone is stupid. I tell people that the story is inconsistent can can’t possibly be true. If they take that to be saying that they are stupid, that’s their problem, not mine. I give reasons to support why I believe it’s inconsistent and can’t possibly be true. What really peeves everyone is that my reasons are so foolproof they can’t rebuke them, so they become angry. But instead of becoming angry they should stop and think, “Hmmm? Maybe this guy has a point!” But they won’t do that, because they are locked into a mode of thinking, “Hey! Anyone who denounce my beliefs if wrong! Period!” They don’t even want to consider the possibility that it might be wrong. All they do is automatically claim that I’m insulting their beliefs. Like Jeanniebean often points out. People can’t separate themselves from their beliefs. They become what they believe and lose themselves in it to the point where questioning it isn’t even an option anymore. |

 This is the most action packed thread Ive seen in the religion section in a while I wonder why? It's just a thread that puts Christianity into a positive light. Oh wait, just answered my own question.  I hope that I didnt seem to be saying anything bad about Christianity. I get in moods sometimes where I feel like Abra but usually I try rise above my own personal feelings. I try (when Im rational) to take a historical aproach to these subjects. It sounds like you are afraid of displeasing these people. Have they got you held captive? Is this another Stockholm Syndrome? If anybody bashes your beliefs, lemme at'em. |

Oh wait, just answered my own question. I hope that I didnt seem to be saying anything bad about Christianity. THAT is what we are trying to tell him..to stop bashing..and just share his views WITHOUT the contant bashing of christiantiy...month after month on end... I am sharing my views. My view is that the biblical picture of God can’t possibly be true. How is that any different from the constantly proselytizing of Christians,… month after month on end,… They have no more reason to believe that what they are saying is true either. On the contrary, I personally feel that my arguments against this religious myth is much stronger than their arguments for it. In fact they have no arguments for it. All they keep saying is, “Accept Jesus as your savior and be saved” That’s hardly an argument that its true. That’s just preaching, which isn’t even the purpose of these discussion forums. Christians just want to preach without any interruptions or questions. But that’s not what these discussion forums are for. In fact, that's actually against the rules here. We're suppose to be discussing religious ideas, not preaching them (or being offended when people disagree with them). There are religious sites on the Internet for preaching and proselytizing. That not supposed to be done in these forums.

What I call negativity is when I address a religious issue and someone starts accusing me of being arrogant and full of myself and so on and so forth, when I never made a single solitary personal comment toward them. I try to address the topics only. But evidently I present such a good case, that rather than attempting to challenge my position people would rather start slinging personal insults at me. Which I try my very best not to sling back. |

Oh Abra stop being such a "hater"... People, he doesn't hate the player(s)- he hates the game! In truth I don't even hate the game.  I just don't believe it. Or more accurately I'm thoroughly convinced that it can't possible be true. To say that I hate Christianity would be like saying that people who believe Greek Mythology to be a myth hate Greek Mythology. In fact, it wasn’t even a mythology to the Greeks, it was their religion and they took it every bit as seriously as today’s Christians take Christianity. In fact, it was actually the Christians who historically and methodically tore down the Greek religions and proclaim them to be ‘mythology. I’ve already stated my position. The proselytizing of Christianity will inevitably lead to a world conflict. In fact, it’s already been doing that for centuries. This also includes Judaism and Islam which are ultimately the same religion that just took differnet pathways. So I’m trying to educate the public for the sake of all of humanity. If there’s any ‘hatred’ for this dangerous myth it’s the same kind of hatred that I would have for cancer. I see it as a cancer of the spirit. People continually proselytize it but in truth they have no clue that it’s true. I personally don’t believe that anyone can know that it’s true, because I’m thoroughly convinced that it can’t possible be true. How people can be so vehement about proselytizing something they can’t even know is true is beyond me. Especially in light of the fact that it’s clearly causing great tension and unrest in the world. And has done this for millennia. Besides, there are much better pictures of God available. Pictures of God that are genuinely loving instead of judgmental and accusatory. Why not support one of those? Abra. That is absurd. highlight is mine. the only thing that eclipses your bullying is your cowardice. Bullying, becaue you have made your life's work in your retirement as a mdiocre teacher to bash Christianity. Cowardice, because you won't start and baby sit your own threads, but insist on incessantly hijacking ther's threads for your personal amusement. ABSURD, because you obviously have no time for anything else in your life but to annoy and wear down the members of JSH with your ilk, ill will, and contempt for your unhappy state of being. Just how do you propose to reach the world with your message while you are parsed in a small sequestering within a rather small forum here in this site? Quite honestly, you don't care who you hurt and annoy as long as you get your way and feel strengthened throught your incessant debilitation of anything not contrarian is scope, religiously. Your rights and proiveleges end where others begin. What part of that escapes your mind? There is plenty of room for you to express your views without bashing Christians into your submission and and insulting them in the process. You have renounced it, so renounce it and do your thing elsewhere. Start with your own threads. Leave off the insulting intolerance and busy yourself with the merits of your beliefs and opinoins that are not at all relevant too your renunciation of Christianity. Create your own myths and happily share them, but remember your renunciations and leave them renounced. No one will disrespect that, I would hope. True, there will come a day when a newbie will take issue with you, but remind them that you have renounced thier beliefs. If they insist then feel free to bash them for engaging you. Abra......sharing is one thing....
but always feeling it is your place to COME into a christian forum.. ....and tell us christians that we are WRONG ..is just plain and simple...FOOLISHNESS and IMMATURE. We christians SHARE our beliefs.....we do NOT go around bashing other beliefs....we share but we do NOT bash. We do NOT go on Moslem boards or islam boards or other religion boards, and MOCK their religion. However, IF there are christians out there that do this.. we do NOT agree with that kind of behaviour. Religious fanatics used to come to a group I helped moderate, and do the same thing that you are doing......and were no different from you...they felt it was their DUTY to bash all other christians ,who did not follow the letter of the law as they did. WHEN people act this way, they are unknowingly, under the influence of an erring spirit. Abra.... listening to your constant negativity, is like listening to someone dragging chalk across a chalkboard....all day long....day in and day out..it creates a VERY negative and unhealthy atmosphere...to say the least. See....we are NOT telling this to anyone else on this board but YOU..you only are the irritating one here. No one else. Others share and debate. You don't. Doesn't that tell you something???!! How about lovingly sharing your beliefs from now on.....as Jeannie does....without the putdowns and bashing....then we will have no complaint. That way, we can all share in a mature peaceful manner....even if we don't agree .....as it should be. |
