I suppose history could be a lie. Since Im a history major Im operating under the assumption that most of history is accurate. The historical Jesus differs from the biblical Jesus in that history is not making any assumptions on his divinity, just his actions.

A lot of what is written in the Bible is contradictory......... The same as with any "history" book, simply for the fact that most of the "stories" written in the Bible were written by various Disciples ( eye witnesses) but, we cannot prove nor disprove what is factual or what is hear say.

May I make a point here..... ( it is actually what true Christianity means,I think) Jesus in his wisdom did not chastise anyone whether they accepted him or not. If we as Christians are to follow in his footsteps,should we not be forgiving of others,whether they are believers or not? Didn't Christ accept a prostitute into his fold? The door is wide open to anyone who so desires to accept the way of Christianity to do so.Christ showed that there was freedom of speech and choice more than 3 thousand years ago, that teaching ( albeit loosely) is still practised today "Truth,freedom and justice,and the rights to freedom of speech). To be true to the words of the bible,should we not be forgiving of each other,turning the other cheek, kind word turning away wrath,etc,etc.Where would any Christian be if our maker adopted an "Unforgiving" principle? It ok to agree to disagree sure ( it is what great debates are made of) but in so doing, shouldn't people refrain from name calling and bashing each other?...................JMHO

The bible is not a history book or a science book.Anybody that tells you different does not know what they are talking about history or science.

Then, pray tell, Mirror, please enlighten me. Where is there any historical account of Jesus except for the Bible or other scripture excluded from the Bible of that time?

Is there any actual proven historical records or other proof that the man they claim was Jesus, was also a miracle worker, a healer, born of a virgin, etc.

And what of the rumor that Jesus was born a twin? Have you ever heard that one?

There is (obvious) evidence that Jesus was a Jewish man who started a cult and was executed by the authorities. There is no evidence of any miraclesI dont know about the twin rumor. Im just speaking of the historical man we call Jesus.

I realize that there was a man, a Jewish Rabi, to whom the mythical story of a crucified savior was pinned, but where is the historical evidence of this man's true life and how he died?

There are other accounts (kept secret) that this particular man was not crucified at all, but lived to the age of 65, had many children and was finally stoned to death because of his going against the Jewish traditions too much. (Knights of Malta secret society, ~ the truth about Jesus.) They claim to have been tracking and tracing his bloodlines to this day. Perhaps because they think his "royal blood" will allow him to be enthroned one day as King of the world or King of Israel.

I'll see if I can find that information -- it is on my computer somewhere.

I know what your talking about. There are alternate histories. Im basing my assumptions on the most commonly accepted historical record.

I think you gave me the name of a book once. But even that book has to have references... and historical proof ... otherwise it is just a story repeated so often that it is accepted as the history about what people commonly came to believe, not history about what really actually happened.

There is where the difference is.
