Not a debate. The rules are simple. I am going to ask a question, and I want your honest answer. I do not want a debate, just state your opinion, and let others state theirs as well. If you wish to debate about it, start your own thread PLEASE. This is just a q&a, trying to get a feel for the populace.

Q: This country is destroying itself because________________________

Fire away please

Nobody is willing to step forwrd and put those in power in check, in order to have the country be the way we (the citizens) want it to be.

Ok this may piss people off, but hear me out.

Feminism: The liberation of the woman has had a significant impact on the family in America. With women working there tends to be a lack of parental guidance for the children. The care and raising of them has been delegated to others who just don't care or love them like their parents would. This would be fine if MEN also were able to adjust to this new situation, but we lag terribly behind. So this imbalance has caused havoc on the basic family structure. This in turn has allowed us to raise a generation of people who don't care because the absence of parents leaves a hole in their psyche for care, that bleeds over to their views on society as a whole.

I see where you are ging, and I have to agree withthe provision that it is not wrong that womena re now working. It is wrong that BOTH parents are REQUIRED to work, just so they barely maintain an income above poverty level.
If the woman wants to work, fine. The man shoud stay home and raise the kids. And vice verse. Until the kids are old enough to be home alone for a COUPLE hours at a time, one parent should be home at all times, when the child is there.

I agree that's best, but it isn't an option for many of us.

This country is destroying itself because of parents who don't take care of their children.

A big problem in particular is when a guy gets a girl pregnant, then leaves her to take care of the baby herself.

This yields bitter fruit in huge social and economic costs.

Those kids often end up on the streets involved in criminal activities like selling drugs, killing people, stealing, or doing other crimes.

Back in the 60's housewives thought they could go to work & raise thier families standard of living. Most did this with the goal of buying a house in a better nieghborhood. When more people could afford houses the laws of supply & demand caused prices to rise.

A working woman needs a car, insurance & gas for it, more & better clothes, maybe more trips to the salon to maintain a professional appearance. She has less time so she spends more on conviences. All the demand for these goods & services pushed the prices up. What once were extras became standards.

Two income families are the standard today & prices reflect that. The market has adjusted to this, & now 2 incomes are a nesscessity.

Yep.... I live off of one income and go to college... and im a single mom.... My life choices... and I'm not looking for sympathy...

Ignorance is why our country is the way it is .... Out of site out of mind ... Some big important people are taking care of everything...

We the people should stand up for what rights we have left and stop sitting back and letting our country fall down around us... The french government is afraid of their people I hear... Because they are proactive .... We need to stop clinging on to our expensive things.... because when our economy crashes the nice things wont mean S**Tindifferent

My point exactly. It has come to the point that we can NOT afford to have a parent stay home with the kids. In michigan, if one parent is working and the other isnt, if you ask for cash assistance, th state requires you to go to a state mandated program for a total of 55 hours a week between the two of you (varies a little, but that is the primary category), in order to find a job. Not taking into account that if youi find a job you will need to get a second car, you will need insurance and gas for that second vehicle, normal work expenses are doubled cause two are working now....

I will agree withthe first part of your statement, but the second part is bs. It takes two to tango, and is just as much on her as it is on her. People want to criticize because someone wants a prenup saying you should know your partner well enough to know their intent. Women should be held to the same standard then with people they sleep with. It isn't only the mans responsibility to ensure a pregnancy doesn't occur, it is both of theirs. This isn't the stone age, there are many options out there for people to utilize

It might take two to tango, but in many situations it is a girl, not a woman, who gets pregnant.

And sometimes her home situation might not be the best, or worse, she gets kicked out because of the pregnancy.

So her choices are to get an abortion (which takes money) or have the child.

Makes it a lot tougher to do either if the dad has split.

Choices are abortion or to have the child. Correct. Soak the system for welfare and have multiple babies while doing that is one way it's done. The other more sensible thing is to give the baby up for adoption. It saves the baby (yay!)and gives a couple who otherwise may not be able to have a child the chance to enjoy and appreciate having a family.

I agree. In a lot of situations, adoption is a viable option.

Unfortunately, the percentage of babies given up for adoption in this country is low. ohwell

I am a big proponent of getting personal property taxes off of our personal homes.

Talk about not accepting ones responsibility!
Who do you suppose is to pay for the services enjoyed by a home owner? The poor, the not so fortunate? You propose that everyone else finance the services for you. LMAO, this is about as hypocritical and contradictory a thing as Ive heard said.

The answer to this is Corporate politics and the politicians, like Hillary, they buy.
Even worse than that are the Bushes and the Cheney's who think the countries military is for their own personal interests.

No, No, the worst is the people, or should I say sheeple, who fall for the BS feed to them, and actually aide these politicians steal their children's and grand-children's future.

Fanta:

EXCUSE the you know what out of meexplode explode WHAT services are you referring to? I pay my own utilities, my local income tax, state income tax, federal income tax, the 'privilege' to work in Pittsburgh tax, which is a joke, where I live we have all volunteer fire and ambulance, so I PAY FOR THAT THROUGH MY DONATIONS AND MY SON WHO RISKS HIS LIFE FOR THOSE SERVICES FOR OTHER PEOPLE - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!explode explode

I have spent 35 years putting other peoples kids through school through these GODFORSAKE PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES.explode Damn I HAVE HAD IT!! explode  I HAVE DONE MORE THAN MY SHARE OF PUTTING KIDS THROUGH SCHOOOL!  explode

SERVICES ENJOYED BY THE HOMEOWNER? WHAT SERVICES DO I ENJOY AS A HOMEOWNER????? WHAT ABOUT THE COP OUT PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN APARTMENTS????   WHO PAYS FOR THEIR SERVICES? "ME" THE HOMEOWNER!!!!

I have to pay for the repairs of my house, gas lines, water lines, electrical lines, heating, cooling, trash collection, yard upkeep. NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS BUT 'ME' THE HOMEOWNER!!!

THANKS TO SOCIALIST PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF FANTA, PEOPLE END UP LOSING THEIR HOMES CAUSE THE DAMN TAXES ARE SO HIGH THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THEM. PEOPLE RETIRE AND HAVE TO SELL OR LOSE THEIR HOMES THAT THEY WORKED FOR AND MAINTAINED TO SHERIFF SALE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT, ON THEIR MEEK RETIREMENT SAVINGS AND/OR SOCIAL SECURITY, PAY THESE DAMN TO HELL AND BACK TAXES.

What truth?
What about all the police, and police cars it takes to protect your streets, county employees, City employees, and volunteer fire departments get a lot of tax money, waste treatment, and land-fills, etc....
Your property taxes aren't high enough to fill 10 pot holes!!
Then you support this great economic and political catastrophe Bush calls the war on Terrorism.
Now what does your property taxes cover? You should talk to your local politicians, cause I guarantee I'm not using it!!!
