I am amazed at the mind reading abilities in here....quick someone read my mind and tell me what I'm thinking right now. HINT: I think it's very clear what I'm thinking right now

ignorance is arrogant

it's an statement to those who think they know everything, and they know nothing.
like those who think they know what other people think.

i don't bow to the pope. i just respect him as the head of the Church.
I just don't get why people get the wrong ideas.
with all due respect.

so lets say you got lucky and you were issued an invitation to meet "His holiness" (the title alone wreaks of idolotry but thats just my opinion)what would you do? Just shake his hand out of "respect"? Or would you bow and kiss his ring? Be honest with yourself..you'd break god's commandment and worship the false idol.

i do not. don't u ever lady pretend to know what i would do in a certain situation.

I was speaking of course hypothetically...huh

Okay......I usually don't post down here, but I don't want people misunderstanding why you kneel before the Pope.

You are showing respect for him, as the leader of the Catholic Church, it is not done in worship. He is the leader of the Catholic religion, but he does not make the decisions alone, the Vatican Council meets and votes for or against changes. He is a peaceful man and I am hopeful (since I nor you, were there) that he spoke to the President about the evils of war.

It is not like in some Asian cultures and religions where you worship a child that is born with a birth defect of a parasitic twin, as the coming of one of their gods. Or worshipping a new young girl every 10-12 years (before she starts her menstruation) as a goddess, I use these as examples because I have just read about them in the papers lately.

I am not trying to change anyone's beliefs, I have mine for the Catholic church, and you have your's against the Catholic church, I am just trying to explain the difference between respect and worship. I respect most people, and I worship none of them.....that is saved for God.

flowerforyou I dont know what this thread is all about, but I wonder if the Pope said anything to President Bush about war being a sinflowerforyou Im not condoning what the guy that started this thread is saying.glasses

good point but what if you don't see the pope as the same as catholics might? to me, the pope saying something is a sin is no different than any other human saying something is a sin
flowerforyou true.flowerforyou But he had access to President Bush and he is unaccoutable to President Bush.flowerforyou He would be the perfect person to point out to Bush that war is murder and that is a sin.flowerforyou

I was raised Catholic.
- I went to Catholic schools.
- But no, I was not molested by a priest.
(In the interest of full disclosure it is only fair to note that I was not an attractive child.)

Madisonman,

You are a bigoted, bloodthirsty, dogmatic wraith who is no Christian. I don't know what type of god you worship, but if he excuses your behavior in the original post of this thread, then he is surely a Daemon.

Peace through power, never through submission. I don't judge others for their beliefs, but when they assault mine and contradict their own, I'm inclined to call them out.

Peace is neither about power or submission...Im not sure how expressing ones personal opinion is an "assault" on your beliefs..but considering your way of looking at things I guess you would take it as an attack...
you have a very black and white way of looking at life...you're missing the rainbow....
