So far I have encountered the frontal hug; The sneak around you when you aren't looking hug and the run up and jump up on you hug where they hug you with their legs, too. The latest I have encountered is the sideways hug. I am not sure if it is a real hug or not. I thought there might be other hugologists out there who might answer this question or have encountered other types of hugs that I am not acquainted with.

I would have to agree with you on any hug is a good hug. I really can't ever remember hugged the wrong way.

alot of religious people hug from the side,I use to attend a church that did the "side hug", has something to do with not making single people struggle. I guess by not putting your bodies to close together lol.... I think for a lot of people it is a sincere hug so dont worry:smile:

Oh ok. That makes sense. I will consider it a true hug then. Thanks.

I would say that you have to get your arms around them for it to be a real hug. I just thought that there were more variations.

Okay here is a bad hug example- the awkward hug? You know this hug, the one that’s initiated by someone you really don’t know all that well, and it turns into this weird, creepy hug that always seems to end with little pats on the back. What is that? I don’t need to burp right now, thanks! Excluding this hug all other hugs are great!

That does seem awkward and would make one feel condescended , too, I guess.

how about the kind of political correct hug where only the upper body is actually touching but everything below the waist is kept at a distance causing one's buttocks to stick out...
huh

I classify that one as a Funny Hug!

I hadn't even thought about that one or the one where it is just a topward hug because a female feels uncomfortable to press her upper body against a male.

the back pat is usually executed between two males hugging. pat pat pat. roughly translated, i'm(pat) not(pat) gay(pat)

the worst kind of hugs for me are the ones where the person doesn't release. the uncomfortably long hug

The bone crushing hug has had a negative effect on me.

I would say that people still need to breathe while they are hugging.

When I was a teenager the youth minister at the church hugged us this way as well- his wife explained to me once that he didn't want anyone to misunderstand his intentions in making physical contact with young girls.

She even said he didn't want to risk becoming "excited" by contact with our chests.

Where I live now we mainly lean forward, kiss on the cheek and then hug. It's nice.

I agree with everyone who said all hugs are nice, but my favorite is when my sweetheart comes up behind me and wraps me up in his arms...

Mmmmmm....
