It's so amazing to me the depths some go to smear people. What war hero is next? Alvin York, Audie Murphy, Neville Brand? How about the men of "Band of Brothers". I do not support McCain, but I find this "report" disgusting. I am so tired of the spreading of these types of viscious made-up stories.

Of course, but are you declaring yourself as bad as a politician?

I already know you are, but thats not the point.

Perhaps this thread might have been better titled "True Lies".

Nah, I liked that movie. Calling this thread that would really be a misjustice to one of Arnold's better movies...haha.

go to this link bobby and do your own research here is a snippet about accusations that Mcain had a black baby out of wedlock leaked by the Bush republicans the whole story is verry interesting and worthy of your time to read""""""" Some aspects of this smear were hardly so subtle. Bob Jones University professor Richard Hand sent an e-mail to "fellow South Carolinians" stating that McCain had "chosen to sire children without marriage." It didn't take long for mainstream media to carry the charge. CNN interviewed Hand and put him on the spot: "Professor, you say that this man had children out of wedlock. He did not have children out of wedlock." Hand replied, "Wait a minute, that's a universal negative. Can you prove that there aren't any?"

Because McCain doesn't walk lockstep with Trent Lott and Bush (and because he poses a long-shot threat of challenging Bush in the 2004 primaries or running as an independent), the Karl "Darth Vader" Rove propaganda machine is trying to cut McCain off at the knees.

And how are they attacking McCain? Why by claiming that he wasn't really a war hero after all.

Just read this commentary from a Rove journalist mouthpiece:

"The word is that he (McCain) wouldn't have made the grade as a naval aviator had not his father and grandfather been flag officers, but that's beside the point.

McCain was awarded a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals, two Purple Hearts and a dozen service awards. Unfortunately the narratives for the awards only speak of his having undergone extreme mental and physical cruelties at the hands of his captors, and were described as "boilerplate" and "part of an SOP medal package given to repatriated (Vietnam-era) POWs" by Naval officers Hack interviewed. The medals were basically given out for being there, not for heroism.

The problem here is not that McCain didn't have terrible things done to him for a long time -- he did. The problem is that neither he -- nor anybody else who was in prison camp -- had a choice about whether they were endangered. But medals for heroism are supposed to be given out for actual heroic action, taken willfully and at great personal risk. They shouldn't be awarded simply because someone survived an involuntary ordeal. And didn't survive it as well as many others. McCain was quoted as saying "O.K, I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital" four days after his capture and later signed a confession declaring himself a war criminal. And although McCain refused an early release, the word is that he was ordered to do so by his U.S. POW commander.

Well Madison, I am surprised by this one, that you've taken this approach to going after McCain.

John McCain served honorably in a war a great number of people ran to Canada to avoid. We can debate the merits of the conflict (as technically it was not a war declared by Congress) but it's interesting to me that you pick this as your issue. It was in fact two Democrats (JFK and LBJ) that got us going in that war. Some have tried to lay all of the war on Nixon and while there is no doubt that Nixon was a terrible president in many ways, it was a conflict that was basically entered in to by Democrats.

The website you linked to is an odd little site but clearly it will back up what you believe and allow you to continue your somewhat interesting practice of cut and paste.

Anyway, as others have pointed out, McCain was a POW for a number of years, tortured and finally sent home.

But really, keep doing what you are doing. Going after McCain for his military service will backfire so badly and if it catches on (it won't because neither Hillary or Obama have dared to go after him on that, and you know, there is a reason for that) it will all but ensure that he is elected.

That could make it interesting, but his wishes to dissolve the dept of education, and other gov agencies is why he had only 2 % of the Republican support!
I dont think he would fare any better as an Independent. I know I wouldn't vote for him. Hes a madman IMO!!drinker
