Topic: Karma, Golden Rule... | |
---|---|
This was brought out in another thread. I wanted to bring this here for those who would like to debate it.
To ME, MYSELF AND I....the Golden Rule is like Karma. I treat others the way I would like to be treated. the results of it could be a reward (even if it's only a good feeling) or punishment I'm sure there are other terms used for these that I'm not aware of.... your thoughts |

i love karma, i live my life by it in fact. And it really works

I agree. You get what you give. Instant Karma, man!!

Thats the only way any of us should live, treat others as you would want to be treated. I'm not a religious person but I like Karma.

Do you believe in dharma and the wheel of rebirth as well ?

There's a lot more to Karma than just the Golden Rule. But if you respect the laws of Karma that would certainly include the Golden Rule.
Here's a nice little summary of the 12 Karma Laws: http://thejourneyinward.net/karma/karmalaws.html |

Karma is a very real thing. Not always instant, but definetly happening. I always try to live in a way, in which I won't have to fear negative Karma coming back at me

Do you believe in dharma and the wheel of rebirth as well ? lol I actually love the character dharma (if that is what you are talking about lol) I didn't start this thread for me actually. I know what I believe and I'm fine with it. it was merely to get back on topic somewhere else |

Do you believe there is an escape from Karma ? From the cycle of endless suffering
I was raised upon the belief"Do onto others as U would have them do unto yourself".And until today & 4 all lifetime this stands.

Well....
I'm certainly not a religious person but I don't think I believe in karma either...jury's still out on that one. However, I do believe that everything we do, say, think and feel effects us all (collectively) on one level or another. With that in mind, I too live my life accepting responsibility for myself. Part of that is treating people the way you would want to be treated. |
I vouch for that
I agree. You get what you give. Instant Karma, man!! |

Do you believe that Prince Siddhartha Gautama (The Buddha) found a way to escape the endless suffering of Karma ?
yep, yep...and Karma can be a b*tch.

Whichever way you get there as long as you get there the belief is immaterial you are saying exactly as the others the means of getting to that conclusion is different and that does not mater

I do not believe in karma. I believe in the Golden Rule. The premise is somewhat the same, in that I treat others the way I would want to be treated.
However... I do not think there is any sort of payback or retribution to either myself or others in the event there is unkindness or the Golden Rule is not followed in general. To me, it is more about respect and courtesy. |

karma-the great balance beam! Each action thought or inaction is weighed and we are given the benefit or negative for our pleasure.
Can we have only one go around on this life wheel and be expected to get all of it right the first try? I don't think so. We each are given the chance to "clear the slate" of the past transgressions, each coming back into our lives often with the same people and nearly exact circumstances. How we decide each one and the out-come sets the stage for the next one. Does this mean we are bound to repeat each "mistake" in our wheel? This depends on how it impacted others. The greater the impact, the more likely we will re-encounter the same again; either in the now existence, or in the next. |

Karma is the glue that binds humans to the cycle of rebirth, it is the operative element in samsara, the recurring rebirth of the soul.
