Topic: Friend Request | |

Why does someone send a friend request when you have never been in a forum together? What sparks it off? I have done friend request with people who are not in the forum that is how we introduce ourselves and then chat, IM or get to know it each other The forum is just a fun place to hang out for me but, not to get to know someone........that is just me though |

Wouldn't that increase the chance that someone would say yes? |

I've been sending friend requests quite a bit, to people who are in my area, thinking maybe we'd form a little group on the site, then get to know each other later, before meeting IRL or whatever. I never know what to write the first time anyway (u r hot? ), so I make my first message, "hey, you actually live in the same state, let's be friends".

I never know what to write the first time anyway (u r hot? ), so I make my first message, "hey, you actually live in the same state, let's be friends". ok that would make me run screaming. When I do write to someone it is to comment on their profile or something they have said in the forums and to perhaps point out any commonalities that we have. Living in the same state just isn't enough in common for me. |

I get them all the time... sometimes they put a reason in the request... so I tend to accept if it is beneign. However, if I don't hear from them ever, I do delete.
But if the request is blank, 99% of the time I say no and send a mail as to why. I simply explain I do not know them and if they'd care to talk I am frequently in the forums. I've NEVER had anyone reply. |

Hiker is that Assateauge ? Indeed it is. Very perceptive. We camped there a few years ago and the ponies broke into our camp. They opened our Rubbermaid tote and ate all our food. It was fantastic. |

I have been to Assateague several times since I moved to PA. My neighbors have a beach house in Ocean City and sometimes they let us use it for free. Never been to the penning but it must be something. |

I was born & raised in Fruitland, raised my daughter in Princess Anne. Those are the 1st 2 little towns South of Salisbury on Rt 13. Peccy is from the Shore too. Assateague is about 35 minutes south of Princess Anne, I could pick my daughter up from school & head to the beach. Many great times there!

I think some people have a hard time knowing, just what to say when they first meet someone. Just plain requesting a friendship, is a cue to you, hey, Im interested! I know personally I dont participate in the forums all that much. I usually just read a profile and attempt to get acquainted, if Im interested, ya know? I dont think it's such a bad thing. You are on a dating site, its not like a stranger is approaching you on the street. No danger in responding with an email.
