Topic: Dealing with being 31... | |
---|---|
Its been a year since I came on here on JSH and I was asking for advice on how to accept the fact that I was days away to being 30... and now.. a year after... I still have the same issue with age. I refuse to accept that it has been this long already.. Does anybody else have an issue with their age? I feel like life and time owes me soo much, ... I feel like I havent done everything that I have always wanted to do yet.. and now..I'm 31... :( does anybody else feel like this?

I just turned 31 march 21st, I thought it was going to be horrible, but it was good friday, my friends had a party for me, but I didnt drink, I just went outside and looked at the stars. 31 trips around the sun and i'm just now figuring out who I am. I made peace with a few things in my life and came to terms with others.
Almost like when you hit a certain age, you just come into your own and for the first time you truly know what you want. I'm a age a phobe, but you can't fight it. just enjoy the ride and watch the marvels around you. |

It is not as though you are old... you have several, SEVERAL decades left to do things. Nobody and nothing owes you things... you know that. The only person stopping you from doing what you want is you. Time has nothing to do with it.

I think anyone who has hit 30 has had that feeling once or twice...or every day since they hit 30.
Part of it is dealing with your own unrealistic expectations of life from when you were younger. The rest is just...1/3 life crisis. List out what you want to do. Find the easy ones, and do those. For instance. "Visit Egypt." Not too tough. Just requires money. I'll put that up toward the top of the list. "Be a billionaire." Uhm, better hope for someone to die first. "Sleep with a 10." Ooh, ouch. As the joke goes, maybe I can do this one quickly if I'm willing to compromise. I can't sleep with a 10, but maybe two 5s! "Be an expert at something." This one can wait 'til I'm 60. Chances are, if I think I'm an expert in my 30s, I'll find out how full of crap I was when I hit 40. "Get another tattoo." Oho, up to the top of the list this goes. Etc etc. |

Heck, if you have a problem with 31, then I SHOULD have a problem with 35, but I don't! just accept it, and be happy! life continues!

I am now 56 and I am proud to say I don't look a day over 80. It must be the jeans. Yep, tight fittin' jeans. That does the trick. I see so many gals on here who are my same age and they look a lot older than my Mother. Sometimes it scares me as I think? Am I that old too? But then I remember about those jeans oops I mean genes and I am thankful that my family ages well. Becoming older simply means you are able to see more clearly. That only works if you look ahead... not backward. This is not the time you need to be thinking of things you have not accomplished but a time to plan what you WILL accomplish in the next upcoming years. If you were clever enough to have done that when you were 21, 31 might not be so disappointing. But you are clever enough now so spend a little time thinking about where you plan to be at 41 and work towards that goal!

Wow!! I am sorry that you are not happy in your life...I find it very sad that you feel this way. I think you have to find happiness within you and then you will see that age just doesn't matter to you at all. I am now 43 and I look forward to turning a year older every year.
Maybe I look forward to turning a year older because I had colon cancer when I was 40? I was struggling that year just to stay alive and be healthy SO I told myself that I would be grateful to turn a year older!! I guess I do live by the saying, never take life for granted because you never know if you will be here tomorrow. Age just makes you wiser and makes you realize how lucky you are to be here. You always hear people say, IF ONLY I WAS YOUNG AGAIN AND COULD LIVE MY LIFE OVER! I wouldn't change anything in my life...everything I have done, it has made me learn a lesson! I have a great family, terrific friends, and 2 amazing sons..what more could I possibly want? I am truly happy with my life the way it is. I am very happy that I am 43 and I can't wait until I turn 50!! Why? That means I am going to be here another 7 years to spend time with my family and friends!! I think you can look at things in different ways. Always be happy that you are alive and that you have those years with your family!! I thank God that I grow older every single year and I get wiser every year!! |

Age is but a number.
What matters is how you feel, carry yourself and if you live your life to it's full potential. Focus on positive things in your life. |

You are still young, don't worry you won't miss out on anything
