In my opinion....

when everyone was not so worried about be politically correct and we were allowed to celebrate Christmas and Easter in our schools (now it is winter and spring break) there was not as many school shootings, kids killing each other and teen pregnancies. So many people are so against God you barely hear Christmas songs at the mall while Christmas shopping.

FYI... at the elementary school out here about 6 years ago holloween was celebrated full force with a carnival and everything but we are not allowed to say Merry Christmas or give out gifts to the kids.

Just go back to the 50s and 60s when we were allowed to pray in school, the world was a much kinder place.

Now our kids are not even allowed to hug each other at school so after taking God out they are trying to take away all forms of love.

I believe it starts when we are young... if we grow up to respect God than we also respect ourselves and others... Im not saying that all people who do not believe in God do not respect others. I do believe that a non-belief leads towards more self gratification and less care about others.

OK I will get off of my soap box now... hope I didnt offend too many people...if I did... happy

btw.. I know I am not perfect, I am a work in progress

but not everyone is christian and all beliefs should be encorporated as much as possible

In 12 step programs they say, "Higher power".

For the record, I have never been a member of a 12 step program.

and you think that people not believing in god is to blame for thats changed in the past century? i'm pretty sure i haven't believed in god my entire life and have yet to shoot anybody, i had more respect when i was highschool not to go around making out in school. as far as i can tell other then my pentions for horror movies and dark music i'm not much different then somebody who bases their whole life in god. should we not be blaming bad parenting on bad parents? or should be blame mtv?

as far as not having christmas in schools, does it really matter what it's called? they took away saying christmas for the jews, you know the other major religion in the world? and i'm pretty sure the muslims don't celebrate it either, you know the third major religion in the world? they stopped doing all that so people felt comfortable in celebrating their own holidays in their own ways. i can't really see how "winter break" is resposnsable for the world falling into chaos.....

Some people must have a really terrible picture of God to think that he’s just an jealous angry old fool who gets peeved if he isn’t constantly being appeased and worshiped.

Such a picture of a God isn’t a God at all as far as I’m concerned. You’re just trying to appease a demon evidently.

If God was bent on being worshipped he wouldn’t be playing hide and seek.

This is the epitome of superstition. Or just another feeble attempt to politicize a religion.

And don’t say that this would apply to all religions, because Gods of other religions don’t need to be appeased. They aren’t the jealous vengeful type.

Clearly you’re referring to a God who gets peeved when it isn’t the center of attention.

Or more likely, you’re referring to a religion that can’t stand not being the center of attention. ohwell

With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of
Allegiance?

..er...I may be going out on a limb here.. but I'm pretty sure all those things existed Eons before The Pledge of Allegiance did...

As bad as now.....again I say "Are you sure" just something to ponder my dear funches.

How about we go back EVEN further, when Christmas and Easter weren't even CHRISTIAN holidays.... How aqbout we go back so far that when these holidays and their symbols were stolen from the PAGANS.... Can we go back that far?

Interesting observation, however I doubt that celebrating Christmas or Easter in school (vs. winter or spring break) has anything to do with school shootings, killings or teen pregnancies. That is not a reasonable assumption.

So many people are so against God you barely hear Christmas songs at the mall while Christmas shopping.

I thank God for that! (I hate that infernal Christmas music.)
Barely hear them? Turn the off please. bigsmile

I don't think that saying "Merry Christmas" is against the law. If it is a rule in your school then it goes against your freedom of speech. I imagine that they simply prohibit celebrating Christmas in Schools.

Also, what does Halloween have to do with anything? (Is that a religion now? )

Just go back to the 50s and 60s when we were allowed to pray in school, the world was a much kinder place.

With or without prayer in schools, the 50s and the 60s was a kinder place. It has nothing to do with prayer in school or not.

Kids were eating better then. Today, children are being fed white sugar, artificial colors, flavors, processed oils, junk food, and high fructose corn syrup in every freaking thing you pick up at the grocery store.

It has to stop! You are creating monsters!

Feed your children better and they will be more sane and a lot healthier.

Now our kids are not even allowed to hug each other at school so after taking God out they are trying to take away all forms of love.

If that is true, they probably are trying to prevent teen pregnancy. Today's twelve year old girls have fully developed breasts and are ready to bare children. It is the hormones in the food....!!! It has nothing to do with religion or prayer in schools.

I believe it starts when we are young... if we grow up to respect God than we also respect ourselves and others... Im not saying that all people who do not believe in God do not respect others. I do believe that a non-belief leads towards more self gratification and less care about others.

You can be taught respect for other people. You don't have to belong to any religion at all to respect other peoplle. Love is not owned by "believers." Love is for everyone.

OK I will get off of my soap box now... hope I didnt offend too many people...if I did... happy

I would hardly call this fair to the thread....what your claiming has nothing to do with what is being discussed. And for your information I lost a grandmother and two great grandmothers in WW11 so of course I am not laughing about that.....but referring to pagan crap and that have no corralation to each other...

It has absolutly everything to do with it.... your point is that they shouldn't take GOD out of the pledge, and my point is that the christians stole our heritage and killed Pagans to do so.... just as Hitler killed Jewish people so that he could have what he felt was "right"

See the difference here is, I don't call Christian things or beliefs crap... however you call Pagan things crap... what are you so afraid of?

Read a history book sometime... It was called the Inquisition, it is called religious intollerance, it happend everyday, but you keep toting your christian beliefs.....

I have nothing against any other religion of today. I do have an issue with People no matter what faith, thinking that theirs is the only way, and want anyone who disagrees with them silenced..... to serve their needs.... Much like Hitler did in Nazi Germany....

No god is in an allegiance.... of mine or my country...

actually we don't have an allegiance...

We are busy getting on with it.
