If what is called "the wrath of God" is simply the law of Karma, then this means that there is no anger or emotion involved at all.

People simply reap what they sow... Then I can agree that they bring it upon themselves. That makes sense.

JB

well that's a different topic, but I don't feel Karma is a law but to me the Golden Rule is. It's all in what someone believes

By "LAW" I mean a law of physics like the law of gravity. If you drop a ball the law says it falls to the ground. By "law" I mean science. If you put your hand in a flame, you will most likely get burned.

I don't mean a suggestion or a rule that can be followed or not.
The golden rule is a suggestion, not a law. Many people do not do unto others as they would have them do unto them, or else people would not be killing each other.

But a law says that if you jump off a 30 story building, you are going to go splat. That is the law of gravity.

I started a thread for you on that JB

p.s.

That is more like a law of "God" that has to be followed or you reap the consequences. There is no anger involved. It's just automatic.

Perhaps, but the notion of the wrath of God was brought up and I felt that needed to be explored. Taking out the word "God" from the Pledge was mentioned as not being a good idea because of Floods, mudslides, and other natural disasters. I can't see how these natural disasters have anything to do with a word in pledge except to imply that God might be angry at people for taking out a word from a pledge.

If there is any other reason for these two things to be linked, I would like to know what it is. What do natural disasters have to do with the pledge?

JB

With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of
Allegiance?

It was meant to mean, that because of everyone taking God out of the picture....including the pledge that in doing so that this world is going to hell in a hand basket...and of course jmo......and even if they are taking it all out...There are more shows that have to do with God, more Christian bands and much much more ministry to 3rd world countries to spread the news of God, and Jesus.

Hey I like your picture... !

I think this world is going to "hell in a hand basket" too, and it will probably continue to do so whether or not they ever completely separate church and state.

With or without "God" in the pledge, I think a pledge of allegiance to anything should be taken seriously and not just memorized or taught to children who don't really know what they are saying.

To pledge to allegiance to something I think you should know what you are pledging to and be of the pledging age of at least 18 years old.

(Kind of like a legal contract requires you to be 18 years old.)

I totally agree!!!!!!!! EXCEPT...there are some under 18 better able to comprehend more than some adults lol. I agree as long as it's understood what the meaning is. repeating something you have memorized doesn't mean anything without understanding

so "feralcatlady" since you claim that God speaks to you are you saying that God told you that he would stop causing natural disasters or not allow any terrorists attacks on the USA if his name is kept in the pledge or will God just allow fewer of those disasterous events to take place in the USA ...if so then what's the ratio ..when it comes to God's name in the pledge oppose to God's name out of the pledge

1000 tornados a year with God name in the Pledge
2000 tornados a year without God's name in the Pledge

0 tsunami with God name in the Pledge
12 tsunamis without God's name in the Pledge

And you have to read what you wrote yourself to see how silly you are. Of course God didn't tell me any such thing...I was trying to get people to see that more and more this world is getting messed up and to see the corelation between people stopping believing in the creator and that this world as we know it is not going to be for much longer. Look yourself at the scripture regarding Israel and what is happening in Israel right now. not don't your choice, And when he does he will be the only power/government.

"feralcatlady" remember those statistics that you regularly post as to how many different religons there are in the world and how many people are in those religions?,well those stats clearly showed that the majority of the people on this planet are religious with a belief in God ...so why are you now saying that because people are stopping to believe in the creator is why natural disasters are occurring more...

so is this a case of how scare tactics are use to promote a relgious agenda of keeping the word "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance because no real evidence can be provide to back up such an outragous unprovable claim as how "less belief in God equates to more occurrences of natural disasters" ..shame on you feralcatlady ...
