Inner chills forcing goosed bumps
to break through paled skin
swathed in clothes of wool
bracing ones self against
natures fury

Radiant sun hides filtered
behind clouded grey plumes
imprisoning rays of warmth
much sort after on days
morbidly cold

Birds rustle in trees
naked of leaves yet
continue their morning song
scoping dewed grass searching
breakfast delights

Smoke unfurls from chimneys
scenting the air with
eucalypt traces of slow
burning wood exuding heat
most inviting

Vapoured breath released from
lungs warmed within now
chilled from air inhaled
crisp and fresh in
Winters onslaught..
