I'm glad a few people on here srr things my way, my screen name should be left out of the equasion. I'm offering a discussion point, I wasn't attacking anyone so insulting my profile pics are unnecessary. it was only up to show that I am athletic. I believe in abstinence for myself and hope to find a woman who shares my views.

Fair enough

Freedom

is just another word for nothing left to lose

Nothin' don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free.

Do explain

He was using words from the song "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin. I gave the next sentence to the song.

I guess that dates me a little bit. I will check out the song. Thanks for the input

Traditionally, people think that democracy gives the ordinary man and woman say over how their country is run. Truthfully though, in America, democracy just means that our leaders are required to provide justification for their actions. We hope that our elected officials are representative, but when you really look at special interests and all of that...not so much.

Any thoughts

No. Democracy doesn't even appear in the Constitution of USA. It's the Republic of USA. Based on laws you must obey.

some people mix up anarchy with democracy. Anarchy is lawlessness, stateless "all power to the people" cluster.fck.

watch this, it has it all:

Everyone is taking this topic very intellectually so I do not mean to put anyone's beliefs or messages down when I say this, but:

Let christian_chef keep his shirtless picture if he wants to. I'm not saying the people here are doing this, but judging someone based on their appearance, while to a certain degree can be beneficial(for instance a guy with a shirt that says, "I'm a rapist," is begging for glares in a mall), shouldn't be taken to the extent of judging someone's own religion or desires in life.

If he wants to have a relationship with someone without sex until marriage or beyond, then that's fine. Maybe he just wants to let it be known that he's in shape while he's at it.

Kinda like myself. I'm not into "furries," but I like drawing a character that is half-man half-wolf. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing and it doesn't mean I love drawing moreso than pursuing my religion, it's just a hobby of mine.

My examples were a little weak but you get what I'm trying to say. I'm also a Christian, and I do wear a few Christian shirts here and there, but the majority of my wardrobe consists of black pants(not goth pants), black t-shirts with marvel heroes on them or what have you, and etc. Others may judge me as a silly girl who hasn't grown up yet, but that's where I find my enjoyment.

More power to christian_chef though. I, too, heavily believe in no pre-marital sex, but I can relate to people who say that some "experimenting" should be done. There's just a limit to what one should be able to do before marriage compared to after.

And, I too believe the Bible was written by man, but the 10 Commandments were written by God, and while some of the things written in the Bible can be subjective, a lot of it that is consistent should atleast be heavily considered before dismissing it as "man's interpretation."

Not trying to stir you up, but what about people who don't buy into the "fact" that God wrote the ten commandments? We have the story, in the Bible of Moses coming down from the mountain after God wrote on the stones, but that is in a religious text. While you may be able to prove a significant amount of things in the Bible as really happening...trusting that God wrote that stuff and not Moses is faith. People who don't have faith in the Christian God...well they probably don't buy into the "truth" that God wrote the ten commandments

Violence cannot be the answer in dispelling racism in our country. Would I like to shoot a neo-Nazi in the head...sure, but the fact of the matter is that life cannot be about beating people to prove that "our stance" is right. I recall MLK's nonviolent approach to fighting racism. At the same time, if 10 KKK members start jumping a Black man, do I think it is okay to use semi-lethal to lethal force? Of course I do; Malcolm X would have agreed.

But really, life has to be about letting love transform people. Sure, sometimes people like MLK end up getting killed. And I think that was one of the worst things to ever happen to America...but truthfully, his love made an impact. The "I have a dream" speech is one that may never be surpassed.

Though I'm unsure how a shirtless pic would have any relation to my religion, I have taken it down. Mainly because too many men seem to be commenting on it. Ladies only please! Haha

To me it is a sexual connotation, showing that. So this thread and the shirtless pic to me seems a little hypocritical.

Preach it

Bro, if you are representing for Jesus or God, you need to check yourself and what you are doing to honor what you say you believe. So sex is bad before marriage? But it is okay to have a shirtless photo...which plays into sex appeal?

I am not asking you to be perfect, but if you are going to "witness for God," then you have to know what that means in the venue you are looking to do so. Be real...people don't care about your parents or grandparents marriage (although that is awesome); people want something they can relate to. What sh!t is going on in your life that people can relate with.

It's not about proselytizing people...life is about love

She's right. Now as I'm sure you can tell by my screen name I am indeed a christian. And I indeed do believe in purity. This is a discussion on the issue of abstinence. It can be taken seperately from religion too. Such as stds, emotional truama, and others.

Bro...I am not trying to be a jerk, or piss on your parade, but from a Biblical standpoint, I think you can make the argument that abstinence is the way to go. But even for Bible believing Christian folk, sex is a real thing that people want to engage in.

What about the abstinent guy and girl that start dating...end up fooling around, etc. Perhaps they don't get to having intercourse, but the fact of the matter is that they do become intimate in a new way. Kudos to the few people that are able to turn back and not participate in that stuff until marriage...for them and their beliefs...

But let's be honest man, the reason Paul told people to get married if they could not refrain from indulging in their passions, was because it is inevitable. Is abstinence dead? No...not for people that value it. For others, sex is the way to go.

And if I really want to delve into scripture, what about the sermon on the mount? Are you telling me you don't look at porn or jerk it? Have you ever? Do you find yourself having an internal battle about it...giving in every 2 or 3 weeks? Jesus equivocates lusting with having sex.

I agree that the physical and psychological affects are different, but come on...

You only change someone else's mind through loving them, without an agenda at hand. If you really believe that what you believe is the way to go, then show it by loving people...not bringing up controversial posts that draw your religion into things even by your profile name.

I hope that if you do have a Jesus fish on your car, you don't speed or cut people off in traffic. Sermon on the mount.

Sorry if that sounds harsh
