You should start another "Biblical Violence" thread. I will contribute. I have a Sodom and Gomorrah one going now but its pretty much dead.

Thank you... I will then.

So is it fair that he has not revealed himself to everyone?

A loving just god that encapsulates what is good is the one making vague metaphorical contradictory writings thousands of years old filled with bigotry?

So god gives us reason, but requires we set it aside to reach salvation?

So is the bible the unerring word of god or not?

At least miles tried to answer our questions even if his response was lame. Care to try to give some reason why these passage are there what they mean and why they are not repulsive MS?

Those who wrote the bible and those who would have you believe what is written within are in collaboration. If God is LOVE and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE (my belief) then it stands to reason what we have are phoney writings.

I wasn’t able to watch the video, but I already know that the bible is repulsive. It makes both mankind and God out to be despicable.

Of course, we know that some men are despicable, but we also know that many are not. The Bible would like us to believe that all men are despicable.

The Bible is an insult to the very idea of a supreme divine mind.

The Bible claims that God is all-wise, and that he is a ‘Fatherly Image’.

Yet it goes on to claim that this God can only think in the very ignorant and unwise terms of punishment and reward. The God never truly mentors anyone. All it ever does is keep repeating the “Threat versus Reward” mentality like a moron.

Christians in particular demand that God is a hateful entity who even rejects intelligent loving people just because they don’t believe that God is a moron.

Christians demand that God is a truly ignorant heartless demon who will back their egotistical bigotry to the hilt whilst casting everyone who refuses to agree with them into the pits of hell. laugh

In fact, that’s precisely the mentality of the authors of the Bible.

Is the Bible repulsive?

Absolutely!

It’s an utter insult to the very concept of divinity. It represents nothing more than the opinions of male-chauvinistic bigots who have blasphemed themselves by claiming that they speak for the creator of this universe.

It’s the most discussing dogma on Planet Earth. And of course that goes for the Torah and the Koran as well since they are really the same pathetic dogma with slightly different twists. It all arose from the same idiotic mythology of a self-confessed jealous egotistical Godhead.

The Bible is an insult to any intelligent human being, and would most certainly be an insult to any divine supreme being as well. If our creator is truly as stupid and ignorant as the Bible claims then there wouldn’t be much sense in worshiping it anyway. It would be perfectly understandable why 33% of this God’s angels supposedly turned and walked away in disgust.

The Biblical God is a God to pity, not to praise. Let’s all pray to the powers that be that no God exists anywhere who is as pathetic as the Bible describes.

Yes, it’s an extremely repulsive mythology.

The people who believe in this wretched mythology want to teach our children a theory of “Intelligent Design”. But that would rule out the biblical picture immediately since there is nothing intelligent about the biblical picture.

Instead of teaching our children a theory of “Intelligent Design” we should simply teach our children to be intelligent and not to buy into unsubstantiated mythologies that claim that our supreme creator is utterly stupid.

*Applause*
I had a thread going on another site called “Biblical Violence is the Real Porn” it covered MOST of the repulsive notions and really turned heads to new ways of thinking.

"Shouldn't this be in a religious forum?"

‘Free will’ is only free will if it is used WITHOUT outside influences. ANY outside influence determines how you use it, thus negates said free will.

To continually ask: what is the meaning to life? :) Seriously tho, no-one can answer until it is KNOWN. However.... I do have my own conspiracy theory.

Should we not give credence to Ed Mitchell? He seems convinced that extraterrestrials have been visiting/observing us for eons and many of his peers back him up.... I think I would believe him before any politician.

I have never heard of Ed Mitchell. Does he think they are friendly or benevolent? Does he think they are here to save the earth or here to take over?

Ed Mitchell, the six man to walk on the moon tells us that the governments are covering up UFO visitation.
HE ALSO SAW OBAMA ON THE MOON ,,,,OBAMA WILL DO ANYTHING FOR A VOTE...........laugh laugh laugh laugh    rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

I believe the universe or multi-verse is/are big enough for EVERY eventuality. If God exists IT is certainly alien to us, but that's only one school of thought.

Wow... so many diverse thoughts and (as yet) not a single biblical quotation. I have this on another site and it's littered with them.

Many thanks for these offerings - lets have some more, meanwhile I'll add some of my own thoughts with a poem I wrote earlier this year:

Limited Reasoning

From its dusty shelf
book tells me
to lend it ears
questions everything
denies nothing
smiles its way
through ancient spite
-given credence
given light-

Given time
turning
thoughts
into wine
bearing
promises
of heaven
or something else
sublime

Tells me
-run no further
look no farther-
like a monotone
answer-phone
for the blind
while
I’m
flying
without hands

I have been working on my beliefs for years.
They are singular, only fitting for me.
They work for me because I either chose them, or on some other level they chose me.
They are mine, and mine alone.

I guess we all have guarded reasons for being so and that is always true. I do believe the spirit can grow or become enlightened though, through shared expressions?... Thank you for the response Invisible. :)

my beliefs....are just that.....Mine
They only work for me.
they may be similiar to others, but ultimately they only serve to guide me.
right ...or wrong.......I am ...

what I believe.

Yes, thankyou sir, that is very commendable, our thoughts are always to serve us to the best of our ability... but I would be interested in them if only to form a discourse. :)

While belief is still part of my being, one of its most disturbing elements crept into my life: the conviction that we have been victims of a predetermination never to know each other’s hearts. In short, a singularity theft; a Devine form of Indian-giving, as in "the Lord gives and takes away". One larceny I cannot forgive. Now some would put it down to Satan’s work, if only to ease their conscience.

Bearing this in mind, where do you stand and why do you stand where you do?

Try to think outside the box of biblical translations and tell me what makes you think your belief outweighs others?
