Doesn't really matter as long as it's not too flat. Gotta have a little substance. Some kind of jiggle when I slap it.

A few I really enjoyed...

Dawn of the Dead (remake) - I think the Cash tune really set it off.

Friday The 13th (remake) - One of the longest opening scenes I've seen, but great.

Enter The Void - the opening credits were also pretty cool.

Kill Bill Vol 1 & Pulp Fiction (agreed)

Conan The Barbarian (original version) - Just too good. One of my all time favorite films. Period.

Antichrist - I was watching the opening scene with my ex on netflix & my computer froze right on Defoe's nutsack. Priceless. Probably the most unforgettable opening scene I have witnessed so far. Haha.

Great piece of film making. No doubt it raises a lot of moral questions for people in that situation.

**** like that happens everywhere though. Even on our own soil. Wasn't "A Few Good Men" also based on a true story?

Pretty much any Stephen King (especially his short story collections).

His son Joe Hill also has an amazing short story collection called "20th Century Ghost".

Ramsey Campbell has some good stuff.

Pretty much anything written by Clive Barker.

Joe R. Lansdale has some good stories.

Whitley Strieber

The old school masters Poe & Lovecraft of course.

Peter Straub

Haha. I really dig the original. It holds a certain nostalgic charm for me, like so many other films of that era.

I'm only interested enough for a free rental on redbox. Not interested enough to shell out the $10 movie ticket.

Damn. $5000 for a book? I figured it would actually be worth more, considering. Good for you though man. That's awesome.

He was actually doing a book signing a few hours away from where I was staying in Florida, but I had to work.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I have a couple CD's from "The Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra". Each going for about $50-80 on Amazon.

Elfquest Archives Vol. 2 (rare DC Comics print) (Hardcover) : about $200

A "Best of The Wonder Years" DVD that I found years ago at a Fry's Electronics for about $10. Now worth at least $100

A Gene Krupa CD worth about $50

Tales From The Crypt (Hardcover) EC Comics 1st edition I bought at a horror convention for $20. Now worth about $100

And then I have some stuff I'm keeping like the TOOL Salival box set (worth about $100) & some horror figurines, posters, & DVDs that I had signed personally.

I may have to find a new hobby & change my screen name. For shame...

There's plenty of excellent cinema being made outside of Hollywood, I haven't relied on Hollywood to entertain me in over 20 years(except a few good films here and there)

True. I am still a big supporter of Independent Film. And...I will admit...I actually don't mind some of the remakes or "reboots". Hell I even like a few BETTER than the original. It just blows my mind that it is so hard to find ORIGINAL stories to be put on screen these days. But...I guess it's all about the money. As long as the remakes continue to rake in the dough, the Hollywood producers will continue to beat them into the ground. :/

Amazon, and Half.com for books and DVDs, and video games.

But if Amazon or Half don't have the DVDs I'm looking for-

rarehorrordvds.com
Diabolik
kultvideo
bloodbuster
Xploited Cinema

Sucks, one of the best places for buying rare Asian cinema HKFlix was closed.

Cool! Thanks man. I'm always on the hunt for some rare, obscure, hard-to-find titles.

I'll have to check those out.

My friend uses somethingweird's website religiously.

I choose a different format for a different occasion. If it is ONLY from a vintage recording & has never been "remastered", then I choose to use a record player.

Some recordings sound better on cassette and or compact disc. Which is generally how I listen at home or driving in the car.

MP3 players are ideal for work. I can fit most of my CD collection in my pocket & just hit shuffle.

Right now. Yes.

It depends on where I am & who I'm with.

Anyone else collect media? Books, CDs, DVDs?

I didn't really plan on taking my collections seriously until I opened a seller account on Amazon.

Turns out I have some rare, out-of-print items that are worth some money & in high demand.

COOL!!!

Share some of your high priced collectables here...

well i don't buy off of line using a card i may get a persons number and to go to their place and pick it up from wheres its located or send a check and get it sent:)>craigslist,.wagjag,ebay,kijiji,zagg,uBid,Bidz.com ,Online Auction,WeBidz, WebStore,CQout,Auction-Warehouse,ePier,It's Gotta Go,Public Surplus Auctions,AuctionAddict,Auction.com,Bid Alot,Dell Auction,SkyAuction,GSA Auctions,Auctions.com,Auctionguide.com,AuctionFire, these are all some of the best sites to buy or bid on if you like bidding on items :)waving

Right on. Most online stores have secured pages (when you go to check out). I have been using my card # on these (mainly Amazon & Walmart) for years and I have NEVER had an issue.

As far as the sites that you bid on. Well...quite frankly, I just don't have the patience for that. If I order something...I want it shipped to me right away. I don't wanna have to wait on the bidding process.

They have already remade the horror genre to death, so I guess they are starting with older cheesy action films now?

Is that what's going on in Hollywood?

Yeah...don't be fooled by the screen name. I lost all faith in Hollywood after they ran out of horror remakes to film.

I mainly watch older, "original" films now.

I have stopped watching television & trailers for new films completely. Don't really see the point. Can't stand reality television series, and I don't care to watch a trailer of a remake that I will more than likely never see.
