Thats not quite necessarily in that order. The future wife could become your best friend through your relationship instead of being friend then wife.

Even if we go on that theory..., isn't anything great going to take some risk to get it. You can risk the relationship with the friend that might lead to something great, or let them go and lose the potential. Leave them to the sea of douche bags.

I never liked that expression. I really don't like fish. Nor do I really want a girl that resembles one.

It's always hard to find that someone. Nothing worthwhile is ever particularly easy.

that thought train doesn't work. typically, doing something differently either means doing something that goes against who you are as a person, or just doing something you weren't able to do anyway. In the end, assuming you didn't cheat or do something atrocious, you really can't beat yourself up over what if's.
I took the time figuring out every single mistake I ever made in my last significant relationship, and tried to identify which ones were the problem. The answer I discovered was worse than not knowing. I'd say it's just best to leave that one alone. |

If the friends are mature (and didn't screw each other over), the friendship can occasionally survive the break up.
I'm definitely looking for something serious and meaningful. But I'm an odd duck, so I think finding a great match for me is going to be a tricky thing. |

When it comes down to it, if she is gone, there's not really any reason to fret about it anymore than you're going to by default. Naturally, this is harder said than done, but moving on is usually for the best. I wouldn't advise jumping into something new super fast, especially after a relationship of that length.
I went through something similar myself, and we got back together.. and it was worse. Someone said to me recently "an ex is an ex for a reason". Seems to make good sense. |

What if he tries to pick something they really dont want him to have? Unless it's just being limited to cats still.
