I prefer calling. Texting can be fun on a break at work or something, but calling really is the best option I think. You can get everything you need to say out and still be busy taking care of other things as well.
How do you take care of other things? Course, you probably don't have yowling kids in the background while you try to make dinner and balance a teeny cell phone on your shoulder while yelling "WHAT? WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR Y.... JUST A SEC... NO YOU MAY NOT HAVE A TWINKIE! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M MAKING DINNER HERE? OK anyway, sorry about tha... just a sec... WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE BABY? WELL COME IN HERE AND GET HER A CUPPA THEN!"
You can do the dishes or laundry when talking on the phone, any number of things, really, and still get your conversation out. You do have to be able to multi-task though. It's like chewing gum and walking, some people can do it, and others can't.
