I don't remember if I ever started a thread like this or not, but I DO know I have mentioned it before.
I have NEVER been asked on a date since WELL before my marriage. I've been divorced almost three years now. Three years of guys hitting on me, but never a date request. Why is this? Do men not ask ladies on dates anymore? Why not? What the hell happened? |

Here we have our OWN thread.
So this is part of a discussion that hijacked a General Discussion thread. The first part is another poster, the second is my reply. Thoughts? What do you think makes a band punk, other than what the record stores classify them as. Don't get me wrong, I know punk when I hear it, but are thier some accepted definitions used to classify it? Unlike most genres, punk isn't defined by the musical style as much as by the lyrics and meaning behind it. There are two things that make a punk band punk. The first, and least important, is it's musical style cannot be classified in any other way. This is why many punk bands sound NOTHING alike (listen to Blue Oyster Cult and Flogging Molly back to back for an example of that). However, this does not always define a punk band. After all, Nirvana is not punk, but alternative, and MANY alternative bands have very different musical styles as well. The BIGGEST thing that defines punk is their lyrics. A punk band is defined by its anarchist, anti-societal, rage against the machine, protesting lyrics. Of course, not all punk songs contain these messages, but a punk BAND is defined by the majority of its songs in this way. Good example of this is Greenday. Many people don't realize they are punk because they're mainstream, which is normally an oxi-moron. However, if you listen to their lyrics, they're VERY punk.

Were were you 27yrs ago... when i did the same thing and yet... I was not appreciated for anything I did.. well hat's off to you and don't stop just because one dose not or two or three.. Perseverance is the key to a women heart.. she just might not have be a spontaneous women.. most say they want this and yet they hate it... next time if your still with this chick.. 1. don't do anything with out her permission. don't even go to the bathroom she might think your hiding a women in the toilet... 2. check with her before you put on your aftershave for she might feel intimidated and think your going to get the new paper an flirt with the post women... all because you wanted to take a shower and smell good for your lady. 3. make sure before you plan anything, you have the time, date, the second to what time she will be ready to have her spontaneous reaction so you can be surprised by her! Last result... get rid of her... and Sweep me off my feet and take me away for the rest of my life..... P.s. no kids allowed.... o dang I'm a lesbian! Umm can you dress up like a women in the bedroom>>>>>>> lol Well damn. I have five kids and can never be a lesbian. I just like men WAY too much. Call me a glutton for punishment.

this is my one serious post for the evening, so enjoy it well done, i hope all goes well, sounds like a fun job(i did it once) Aww! I feel special! Yeah, my friend works there and she told me they like to hire women because the guys at the mechanic shops and parts stores we deliver to look forward to the deliveries. I was encouraged to wear shorts.

Since we have a few punk afficianados here. Do y'all consider The Velvet Underground to be punk. I think that they were really ahead of thier time, but the only thing that ever sounded punk was "Just Like Sister Ray said" They ARE considered Punk, yeah, but like you said, they were pretty early in it. Like The Ramones. Don't really SOUND that punk, but they are quintessentially so. |

I used to get upset about not knowing details about obscure bands like lots of my friends, but then I decided just to go with the bands/songs I liked and not care if they were obscure or not. For most of my friends, The Dead Milkmen are pretty everyday meh (compared to, say, Turbonegro or Two Word Culture), but I stopped caring weather they thought I was "mainstream" or not long ago. After all, we are who we are, and whatever that means is in the eye of very different beholders! Now, to get back to the topic at hand... I HIGHLY reccomend asking a friend to burn / sinc a playlist for you of their favorite bands/songs. It's a GREAT way to learn new music!

For most of my friends, The Dead Milkmen are pretty everyday meh (compared to, say, Turbonegro or Two Word Culture), but I stopped caring weather they thought I was "mainstream" or not long ago. After all, we are who we are, and whatever that means is in the eye of very different beholders! Now, to get back to the topic at hand... I HIGHLY reccomend asking a friend to burn / sinc a playlist for you of their favorite bands/songs. It's a GREAT way to learn new music!
