are there any stories behind your screen names here? why did you pick the screen name you have? i will go first. '

aparentlt my great grandfathers favorite presedent for whatever reason was eisenhouwer. when i was born i was bald and resembled him alot. when my mom handed me to him for the first time to hold he said well hello there littleike and it became my nickname, funny but true story:smile:

Alternativa_anima was supposed to be my name here, but I messed up.

Alternativa anima is Italian for alternative soul.

Imagine life is full of paths that lead to different things. Different paths are available to different people at various stages in life. Sometimes the paths you choose lead you back around to where you were originally headed. Sometimes you get so far off the intended paths and can no longer remember the destination.

I feel like my soul is on an alternate path than what was originally intended.

At least it’s been an interesting journey.

Have I mentioned to you I have family in Knoxville?
My Daddy is in Johnson City.

Doesn't seem to be much of anything going on around here lately.

Apparently I'm limited here as to what I can say, seems my posts disappear even when they are not breaking any of the rules. So I will from now on just post one word.

Poo.

It's not just you... quite a few have been "vanishing".

btw, sorry for the rant, but the thread said say anything so I did. I had to get it off my chest so I could start the healing process.

Sorry again, I do apologize. it was just something I had to do.

Wow! It's ok... you definitely needed to vent after going through all that. I wish you the best and thank you for making me realize that there are worse things out there to be going through than my own current cr*p. flowerforyou

Trade you! I get the “I’m perfect for you”, but when I check their profile I’m wondering how they came to that conclusion when hardly anything coincides with mine. Of course, now I’ve made that impossible since I basically erased my profile. laugh

I never get those here, but back in 2006, I spent 3 months on a pay site where I got that all the time!

Always locals (I mean, the same TOWN half the time, or maybe a town or two over), saying things like "Hey, I saw your profile and I think we'd have a lot of fun together! Some of my girlfriends and I are going up to {insert name of local bar} tonight about 8:00, why not come over and meet us! I'll be the one with the red t-shirt!"

And I would write back and say "You really need to read my profile again...."

laugh
I used to say the same thing. Recently, I've just started deleting without repling.

As for the woman who comes and goes, my thought is that if you were not there, she would find another to be there for her. If you DO want her in your life, even sporadically, then I would continue to be there for her and hope that she eventually realizes how much you care.

I get the "no one matches your requirement" quite often... It tells me that I'm too picky and need to loosen up my criteria a bit to perhaps a few things that are most important b/c NO ONE is perfect...

No one is perfect, but does that mean no is perfect for YOU? spock

 I’m not disagreeing with your assessment, just trying to keep things light with humor and pointing out that some of the women who respond to you may think they meet most of your requirements based upon their own views of themselves.

Well, the ones who respond to me are all 46 with 4 kids, and they just want to argue!

Seriously, I NEVER get anyone saying "Hey, I think I fit in well with the description of the kind of person you said you're looking for."

I get "I know I don't fit the description of the kind of person you're looking for, but you're a complete and total ******** because you won't give someone like me a chance. Your preferences are all wrong and someone needs to prove it to you."

True, but if I've learned one thing from reading 3,889,328,922 dating site profiles, it's that self-assessments are generally less then useless.

How many times have I seen this? -- "I'm the most unique person you'll ever meet. I'm laid back and easy going, like to go out or stay in, and I love my friends and family." Yeah, THAT'S a good reflection of uniqueness!

Perceptions of intelligence can be somewhat subjective, too. In a venue like this one, I have to go by what's written in the forums, profiles, etc. And most of what I've read hasn't really meshed well with my idea of what constitutes "intelligence" within a written format!

I did read your profile.......40% though. Now let me take a guess on what you are looking for......

You are looking for someone who is.....
1. Intelligent
2. Doesn't have kids.
3. Doesn't drink.

Cutting through all the treacle, that's pretty much it.

I'll be damned if I can find anyone like that, though, who doesn't live 897,000 miles away from me.

I don't currently have one. The last one was "Miss 'Tude" and was because I supposedly can get a heck of an attitude when ticked off.

Lex, please don't get offended. I am only trying to be funny and play off of things you have said.

Hey, I'm flattered that you took the time to remember all this stuff!

You're an interesting, but complicated person. Anything interesting or complicated always sticks in people's minds. I bet anyone that's been here for at least a month could quote what you'd like to find.

and what are you looking for exactly?

An emotionally detached, writer-idolizing, no alcohol drinking, non-smoking, childless, genius with words, sex goddess who lives within 800,000 or so miles of him.

I went through something similar with my oldest about a year ago (he just turned 21). I finally told him to just leave if I was so bad. It was difficult. I made sure I called and left messages on his voice mail every few days (he wouldn’t answer my calls) telling him I still loved him, was here for him, wished him the best, and hoped things would be better if we didn’t have to put up with each other so much. It took a few weeks, but he finally called me back to say hello. Little by little, things got better. Now we get along as well as we did before all his ‘growing pains’ and he comes by almost daily to talk and hang out.

Allow a little space and time, but make sure he doesn’t forget how much you love him and things will eventually be ok again.

...just how much you svck by someone you love? How did that feel?

When backed into a corner, the claws will come out!

I am sorry I said YOU sucked… I should have said what you DID/SAID sucked. Actually, if you had backed off and allowed me time to be upset, time to think things over, and time to come up with a better way to say things I wouldn’t have phrased things the way I did.

I apologize for saying things the way I did, but do not apologize for the way I feel.
