Talked about that with the kids but they don't want to trade any others, she really did a number on their trust with her and they really don't want to spend much time with her at all. This is going to be their first forced holiday with her. I'm just trying to make it as easy on them as possible.

Just found out my Ex was planning on having me tag along during her time for the 4th its my weekend but her holiday. I really don't want to do much of anything with her, but she's lost her driver licence so can't wake the kids anywhere to see any fireworks. Adding to this she doesn't have her own place or job to buy her own fireworks to set off with the kids.
My question is: do I just drop off the kids and basically ruin the 4th for them or drive them around and ruin my 4th.
To add to my story this is a normal thing, she let her life go and now expects others to come to her rescue. She hasn't had the kids for longer than a few hours at a time since the divorce and she tries to use them to spend time with me and I've really been trying to distance myself from her but not letting the kids get in the middle of it.

there is a fairly large line between abuse and discipline, but most tend you stay away from spanking to avoid any question. I'll spank mine just to get their attention just once and not hard, and they respect me, not fear me. Thats what most have a hard time with its either not at all or way to much and it shows in todays kids, they are flat out rude and disrespectful.

Congrats on quiting I'm just over one year smoke free and loving it, its so worth it. No desire to take back the habit (didn't want to even through the divorce), the pros of stopping far out weighs anything.
When I quit it was over an arguement with my then wife about her drinking, she said it was like smoking...you just can't quit it, haven't had one since that day to show her. She never stopped and I've changed my reasons to not smoke, its for me now not to show her.
Good job to all of those that have quit and good luck to all those trying.

Stick with what you are doing as a single dad with a semi unstable ex at times, getting the courts behind you with orders help alot, but you have to follow through with it dont ever let them think you bluffing that you mean it in a case like yours
