i got spanked growing up and i feel that there are times when it is appropriate........it will not however be my only form of punishment .................i feel there are a lot of kids out there today that deserve a good paddle across the a$$.......maybe they wouldn't be so disrespectful

i got spanked growing up and i feel that there are times when it is appropriate........it will not however be my only form of punishment .................i feel there are a lot of kids out there today that deserve a good paddle across the a$$.......maybe they wouldn't be so disrespectful I agree with you there...I went through an attempted mugging a few weeks ago, bunch of hooded youths...got the shock of their lives when I slapped them square on the kisser...I think it was the first time an adult had pulled them into line...they ran off in shock

i watched a 13 year old spit on an older guy while on the max train here.........the guy wanted to grab the kid so bad but didn't and the kid knew he wouldn't.......i think if my son had not been with me i would have.......... |

there is a fairly large line between abuse and discipline, but most tend you stay away from spanking to avoid any question. I'll spank mine just to get their attention just once and not hard, and they respect me, not fear me. Thats what most have a hard time with its either not at all or way to much and it shows in todays kids, they are flat out rude and disrespectful.

Spare the rod, spoil the child...
I had no issues whupping my kids when they were younger. As has been said, it was never to cause pain, rather to help reinforce a point. And for me, most importantly, I NEVER whupped my kids while I was enraged, I alwasy waited to calm down, and do it controlled first. I think that is a key difference... Now, as teenagers, and budding teens, they are basically a hands free couple of kids!
