And understanding the words they use and the meaning of those words are two different things. Many words can be used in many ways.

Cowboy...then learn Hebrew...why would you based your after-life on a book of mis-translations
Yep the bible is more Greek influence of the afterlife not Ancient hebrew traditions.

Do what now? Jewish Zombies? What are you talking about?

Zombie
- A soulless corpse said to be revived by witchcraft, esp. in certain African and Caribbean religions

- a person held to resemble the so-called walking dead

Neither one of these fit anything anyone has said, nor are they supported by the scriptures. Who was talking about zombies?

I'm working on the 4th volume of the Abrahamic Trilogy it's called The Undead Testament,it's about undead that God forgot to turn back into normal human form. And Pat Robertson is the evil cleric that tries to stop God from turning them back but Satan is jealous of Pat so him and God make a pact to work together with jesus to kill Pat Robertson with the Sword of Righteousness aka +5 Holy Avenger.See the plot thickens though Pat Robertson is the reincarnation of Hitler and Satan doesn't tell God this secret.
Check it out it'll be a great book, look under the irrational thinking section along with the other 3 volumes.

Cowboy the only thing i have gotten out of this entire thread is how F u c ked up christianity is and how i'm proud to be an atheist.Good Luck in your faith you'll need it.

Thank you, would you mind going a bit more in depth on how you feel it's *****ed up as you claim. This is the thread for it and all. Just couriouse on your perspective on thing.
It's simple really why it's F'ed up cause people actually psychologically believe this fictional continual story from the old testament happened. It isn't obvious that the authors of the New Testament had to cover and be sure that the main character had to fullfil certain prophecies to become the messiah? All i get out of the new testament is a continual exaggerated fictional story thats part 2 of the Abrahamic Religion Trilogy.
Believers will say "non-believers don't understand what religious faith is" funny thing is they do that's why they don't believe it.

Here are some external evidence of the things documented in the scriptures.

•Ebla tablets—discovered in 1970s in Northern Syria. Documents written on clay tablets from around 2300 B.C. demonstrate that personal and place names in the Patriarchal accounts are genuine. In use in Ebla was the name "Canaan," a name critics once said was not used at that time and was used incorrectly in the early chapters of the Bible. The tablets refer to all five "cities of the plain" mentioned in Genesis 14, previously assumed to have been mere legends.
•Greater proportion of Egyptian words in the Pentateuch (first five books) than in rest of the Old Testament. Accurate Egyptian names: Potiphar (Gen.39), Zaphenath-Paneah (Joseph's Egyptian name, Gen. 41:45), Asenath (Gen.41:45), On (Gen. 41:45), Rameses (Gen. 47:11), Oithom (Exodus 1:11).
•Finds in Egypt are consistent with the time, place, and other details of biblical accounts of the Israelites in Egypt. These include housing and tombs that could have been of the Israelites, as well as a villa and tomb that could have been Joseph's.
•Confounding earlier skeptics, but confirming the Bible, an important discovery was made in Egypt in 1896. A tablet—the Merneptah Stela—was found that mentions Israel. (Merneptah was the pharaoh that ruled Egypt in 1212-1202 B.C.) The context of the stela indicates that Israel was a significant entity in the late 13th century B.C.
•The Hittites were once thought to be a biblical legend, until their capital and records were discovered in Turkey.
•Crucial find in Nuzi (northeastern Iraq), an entire cache of Hittite legal documents from 1400 B.C. Confirms many details of Genesis, Deuteronomy, such as: (a) siring of legitimate children through handmaidens, (b) oral deathbed will as binding, (c) the power to sell one's birthright for relatively trivial property (Jacob & Esau), (d) need for family idols, such as Rachel stole from Laban, to secure inheritance, (e) form of the covenant in Deuteronomy exactly matches the form of suzerainty treaties between Hittite emperors and vassal kings.
•Walls of Jericho—discovery in 1930s by John Garstang. The walls fell suddenly, and outwardly (unique), so Israelites could clamber over the ruins into the city (Joshua 6:20).
•In 1986, scholars identified an ancient seal belonging to Baruch, son of Neriah, a scribe who recorded the prophecies of Jeremiah (Jer. 45:11).
•In 1990, Harvard researchers unearthed a silver-plated bronze calf figurine reminiscent of the huge golden calf mentioned in the book of Exodus.
•In 1993, archaeologists uncovered a 9th century B.C. inscription at Tel Dan. The words carved into a chunk of basalt refer to the "House of David" and the "King of Israel." And the Bible's version of Israelite history after the reign of David's son, Solomon, is believed to be based on historical fact because it is corroborated by independent account of Egyptian and Assyrian inscriptions.
•It was once claimed there was no Assyrian king named Sargon as recorded in Isaiah 20:1, because this name was not known in any other record. Then, Sargon's palace was discovered in Iraq. The very event mentioned in Isaiah 20, his capture of Ashdod, was recorded in the palace walls! Even more, fragments of a stela (a poetic eulogy) memorializing the victory were found at Ashdod itself.
•Another king who was in doubt was Belshazzar, king of Babylon, named in Daniel 5. The last king of Babylon was Nabonidus according to recorded history. Tablet was found showing that Belshazzar was Nabonidus' son.
•The ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah have been discovered southeast of the Dead Sea. Evidence at the site seems consistent with the biblical account: "Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens." The destruction debris was about 3 feet thick and buildings were burned from fires that started on the rooftops. Geologist Frederick Clapp theorizes that that pressure from an earthquake could have spewed out sulfur-laden bitumen (similar to asphalt) known to be in the area through the fault line upon which the cities rest. The dense smoke reported by Abraham is consistent with a fire from such material, which could have ignited by a spark or ground fire.

Cowboy all this proves is events that aren't the exaggerated ones,i never said the bible is 100% false it's the authors just exaggerated events, natural disaster and cosmic events then they claim their mythical God did them.As for the king david thingy there is no evidence.
example: i can go to miami and a meteorite smashes into a condo complex and say "look did you see what God did?"Theres your religion in a nutshell.what you posted also has more to the story about what others think of the findings.Science has proved alot of what the authors misrepresention of the source of what caused certain events.
Also you have to take into consideration the old testament was written after the events supposively happened not during.Meaning they can fix it how they wish it to be.

Yes, they "can" fix it how they wish it to be. But same could be said for every bit of history that we are taught. Everything people claim as "fact" about history, could have all been fabricated. You have absolutely no way of knowing for sure if it was or wasn't. Thus people have placed their faith in the history we are taught is the truth. Thus, it is no different then God and the history we have documented of. Thus also, why we will also be judged on our faith and not purely just actions.
so the US Constitution could be a document written by the 2,000 year old Jewish Zombies still waiting for the 2nd coming of Jesus?

Jesus never sat on the throne of David and ruled in his lifetime so why would they believe him to be the messiah.
Also where does it state in the Old Testament that a messiah gets a second chance on earth to fullfil the prophecies he should have done the first time.
Also where does it state in the old testament that the messiah shall rise from the dead on the 3rd day?

Let me guess "it's a christian thang"

Jesus never sat on the throne of David and ruled in his lifetime so why would they believe him to be the messiah.

There is only one way for a "life time" to end. And that is to die and not have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Jesus is not "dead", he resurrected on the third day. His "lifetime" is not over, he still has abundant life.

Also where does it state in the Old Testament that a messiah gets a second chance on earth to fullfil the prophecies he should have done the first time.

May I ask what exactly you're speaking of? All the old testament prophecies have been fulfilled. The new testament prophecies are in the process of being fulfilled. Exactly what prophecies are you speaking of that he didn't fulfill that should have been?

Also where does it state in the old testament that the messiah shall rise from the dead on the 3rd day?

There is none specifically from the old testament, that I know of. But there were prophecies made of this happening, for example -

John 2:19-21
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Mark 13:30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

Matthew 16:28 Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

Matthew 24:34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

Luke 21:32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place

well i haven't seen any 2,000 year old jews yet

Matthew 16:28 Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

Death occurs at judgement. When one is judged and either receive the gift of eternal life or death.

Matthew 24:34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

We are still in that generation. We are in the generation of this world. When speaking on a level of eternity and what not, a generation isn't just parent to child. That is only a generation to us, for that is all we have while walking this Earth right now.

Luke 21:32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place

Same as with the Matthew verse. This is still the same generation.
Dude you are delusional it specifically states before you pass and shall not taste death.Your rebuttal is we now are still that generation and people aren't dead that were back when Jesus was alive?2,000 years ago?

i know god doesn't exist so him loving me is impossible. Also you worship him and believe him as the creator i don't so i don't thank him for anything.
You KNOW?

How do you KNOW God doesnt exist?

There is no scientific proof one way or another.

So im guessing that your basing that on a "gut feeling"...right?
No it's not gut feeling god is the same as Zeus,Neptune, well pretty much all the other mythological gods.Thats how i see deity driven beliefs,it's all mythology.
So because you believe that there are mythological things in the world..

this means you KNOW that God is one of them?

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Wheres your proof? You have non, your going on a belief that has no scientific evidence.

Wheres my proof? I have non, im going on a belief that has no scientific evidence.

ITS CALLED A GUT FEELING, when you cant prove it but you just believe it.

Do you believe in unicorns? If not can you prove they dont exist, or didnt exist either.

No, you cant...therefore you would be basing that on an unfounded, unproved belief...

A GUT FEELING.

That is unless you base your beliefs on what other people say, and not on your own accordance...

which im not thinking you do babe.

And if you do,

why are we even having this discussion?

Its moot!

No it's not what others have inspired me to do,i know it seems odd to a believer cause of your faith but i have and will always know there is no god cause it's the same as all the other preAbrahamic religions..myth and exaggerated stories.
OK I HEARD THAT, BUT HOW ARE YOU USING THAT AS PROOF THAT GOD DOES NOT EXIST.

Do you know stories that I dont, that prove that God is a myth.

Please enlighten me.

But more importantly, even if you do, can you prove them to be 100% accurate?

No.

So what are you basing your belief on, if not fact or proof.

FAITH,

and what is FAITH.

ITS A GUT FEELING THAT CANNOT BE PROVEN, OR SHOWN, that a person feels.
It's the history of religion itself first there was polytheism it was around for thousands of years then came the start of the Abrahamic religion which with mostly intimidating persuasion people began to follow it.Theres a pattern so in a few more thousand years a new religion will evolve. One has already the church of scientology. You can believe what you want your human i'm just explaining how i know there is no god,but there are others who claim God does exist thats fine because those in the past believed in many Gods now people believe in one God.

How come non-believers go through life with no god or jesus but yet believers seem the need to worship and praise jesus or god?i don't feel the need to praise something or someone to make my life better i just live life.

God loves us all, regardless if one is "Christian" or not. We do not worship God and praise him and expect anything in return specifically for it. As in it's not like we need a vehicle cause our last one took a crap, so we praise and worship God to "butter" him up in order for him to give us a way to get another.

Worshipping God isn't specifically about making your life better, it's about giving credit where credit is due and telling God thanks for what he has done.
well as for God loving us all thats your opinion.i know god doesn't exist so him loving me is impossible. Also you worship him and believe him as the creator i don't so i don't thank him for anything.
