My Atheist standpoint is that human beings have every right to use the animals and environment to suit us. We are the human race, we are the dominant race on the planet. So long as we don't believe in God, nobody can tell us what we can and cannot do. We use animals for food and trees for tools and shelter and we constantly gain more and more control over our lives as we get smarter.

It seems, to me, that most of the content of the Bible and other religious books seems to basically boil down to: "don't EVER do anything that could make your life easier or happier, and if you absolutely have to then make sure you feel really guilty about it afterwards!"

ohwell

Probably, but I wouldn't know.

I've always had a very very VERY hard time expressing any emotion whatsoever, which is why I turned to music. If I weren't a musician everyone would think I'm a robot, lol.

Somewhat bittersweet...an acquired taste.

Definitely minty and refreshing yet still filling and complete. Would not go good on a pizza or in a sandwich, but possibly would make an excellent pie filling.

I am. I can't get over feeling like I deserve to live in pain.

NOpe you dont DESERVE to live in pain!

I know, I just always feel like I do. I yell at myself over minor mistakes that don't even mean anything and when people do terrible things to me I don't object to it. I just feel like it's part of my penance for coming into this world and ruining so many people's lives, even though I know I shouldn't think like that.

You did not ruin peoples lives. We are all here for a reason!

You learn from the bad to know when you have something good that it is really good. No worries it will happen!!

Well, I don't believe that I'm here for a reason but I suppose I could be worse off. I'll try to be more optimistic.

If she won't tell us what her husband's up to then what makes you think she'd tell you what she's doing with all your taxpayer money?

You guys know that the Puritans were the ones who burnt children at the stake for playing in the woods and singing about anything except God, right? Is that how you want this country to be?

Salem witch trials every night?

Anyone who tells the people that what they do is "none of their business" is unfit to lead a country.

That's all fine and good if you want to raise your children that way but I stand by my assertation that anyone who FORCES someone else to pray should by strung up by their toes and flogged. If my kids end up going to public schools where they force religion on them I will not hesitate to pull them out immediately and home-school them myself.

I agree with the pledge but if someone doesn't believe in God or what that part represents to others...then they shouldn't say it or say that part

What if the pledge said "one nation under Satan or Vishnu" or something, and everyone just told you not to say that part. Would that make it right?

Religion and politics are like baking soda and vinegar. They're both stable by themselves but if you mix them together you've got nothing but a big smelly mess.

Maybe if people started fixing their own problems instead of looking to "God" to make everything better, we wouldn't have half the problems we do. WE, the human race, are the ones who affect how things work on Earth. Not some god or devil.

I think the question on everyone's mind is:

Did he bowl a strike or not?

The general opinion is not rule. In the 1600's the general opinion was that the Earth was flat and the sun revolved around us. In the 1700's the general opinion was that black people were inferior to whites. Reason and Reality take priority over what people believe to be true, and the reality is that Theocracy of any kind is a terrible, oppressive regime which serves only to hold back the human race and shackle the mind to a certain way of thinking. History has proven that time and time again. Fascism always comes bearing a symbol of God.
