religion will always be mixed with politics, any one who has any strong spiritual belief uses those morals and code of ethics in making choices.

So even if a athiest was president, his spirtual beliefs, even though he has none, but the non belief he has in its place, that's actualy a belief to them, would still effect the choices.

Well, I stated in another topic that maybe someday religion and politics will be separate - as it should be.

Somebody replied back to me: Wrong - your opinion only.

So I was curious as to what the general opinion was.

The general opinion is not rule. In the 1600's the general opinion was that the Earth was flat and the sun revolved around us. In the 1700's the general opinion was that black people were inferior to whites. Reason and Reality take priority over what people believe to be true, and the reality is that Theocracy of any kind is a terrible, oppressive regime which serves only to hold back the human race and shackle the mind to a certain way of thinking. History has proven that time and time again. Fascism always comes bearing a symbol of God.
