ding ding ding ...... winner

everyones lives are different, chooseing a life of solitude over one of pretending to be one of the dumb arse sheep could be seen as a noble choice.

exactly.

sometimes people might choose not to conform in some way that doesn't necessarily reflect badly on their character.

i have a few close friends yea, but a lot of people i don't click with because i refuse to conform to certain norms among my age group i.e. i don't like to go out, get drunk and party every weekend and document my life on facebook. others do. neither choice is bad, but when you don't have much in common, friendships tend to not get off the ground.

ok... and if THIS isn't the Oddest thing...

That (1st) Person I was Speaking of and I started dating on 8-8-88.
Since then... the number 88 has been a staple in my life.
Hell, my Screen Name even Ends in 88...
as I looked at the above post.... it was number 588 for me...
*smile* He Still Smiles down upon me from time to time... sneaking into my Brain when I least expect it... I haven't thought about Zoe Bostwick for a very Long time...

have you ever had someone inexplicably despise you from the get-go, without having ever interacted with you before?

if so, why do you think that was?

in this day and age human connections are becoming a thing of the past for young people, and it's being replaced by fake meaningless "friendships" with hundreds of people online which fail to fill that human need for emotional intimacy.

sex is the easiest way of getting attention to accumulate those fake online friends in a vain effort to fill that void, and it's also the easiest way to get attention from the opposite sex... and some people mistake sexual relationship for intimacy.

Emotional intimacy is not a human need...a human need is food, water, and shelter. Humans can survive just fine without intimacy.

I second that.smokin
Speak for yourselves!!!

Okay, for arguments sake. Explain to me how in one way or the other intimacy provides a survival element to humanity? Beit emotional or physical, how does it provide for mankind? What does it provide?

Instant gratification, supplemental at best.

most human beings don't just seek to "survive" i.e. stay alive.

human beings feel urges to self actualize to their fullest potential.

in maslow's hierarchy of needs as pictured above, you have the pyramid of needs that human beings must fulfill in order to reach that self-actualization phase. yes, water food shelter etc is needed to survive, but after those needs are filled then normal human beings feel the urge to move up that pyramid fulfilling the needs necessary along the way.

it's on the list. it's just way up there

Humans cannot survive without food, water, and shelter...they can survive without other people.

according to psychological perspectives, you are incorrect.

americans are too happy. being the richest nation or whatever makes you guys feel the urge to have to get up in arms about something, anything, otherwise there's nothing interesting to do or think about.

american boredom produces obsessions which to the rest of the world seem ridiculous like with boobies... and heidi montag huh
