I am a pessimistic optimist. I see the class half full/empty depending on the mood. Then I wonder if I should drink the rest or refill it. I was taught young "HOPE FOR THE BEST. BE PREPARED FOR THE WORSE'. |

Meeting new people

Those of you who don't meet new people.. why? I can't imagine not wanting to meet new people at least once in a while. well the desire can be there, but the ability, not so much. have you heard of social anxiety? a lot of people who hang out in the interwebs have this. and sure hiding behind a computer doesn't help any, but i don't see how me crying in front of you would help me either. :p I can see where you're coming from. Initial contact can be VERY anxiety provoking. I had a lot of trouble with that when I was a child. |

Hey, I think we ALL know by now, that Pete and Nicole, found each other here on Mingle, and thats all good! And today they had their first "meet up", which is also cool. But hey, you guys, as a REAL friend to both of you. I understand, especially on the first meet up, that you guys are doing some major boot knockin, o.k? and thats cool. But as a REAL FRIEND, I have to tell you both this. Before either of you leave the house, please.................................................... comb your hair first! Just sayin. |

New Year's Eve... nine-thirty... and my eyes are hardly open. Just a slit. I would be a national disgrace to the nation if I could not wait up 'till midnight on NYE as a young buck... but today if I don't go to bed in three minutes, I'll fall off my chair and not even know I landed on the floor. Good night to all, and a happy new year to me when I wake up again. A woken-again person I shall become to be. (Please don't expect me to man this thread until tomorrow. Signed, Wux.) I suffer with sleep apnea, so i never sleep at the right time. lol |

Is there anything in your life, which u were eager to know but never got to know? Going through the foster care system in Michigan in the 50s and 60s was a bummer. Was sure happy when I reached the age of 18. |

Having worked with the homeless many years I have to say you can sometimes really nake a difference ministering to one person in a personal way. Yea you want to have boundries and be really careful but a few that I brought to my home are still some of my most loyal friends who took the hand up and made something to be really proud of themself for the opportunity. This thought thread made me think if something someone said to me about being one leg in and one leg out on things. If you are only half committed to anything people are going to have a hard time believeing in you. Even though I no longer need the free meals that they serve each day. I still go there to eat and spend time with the many homeless people that I have grown fond of. I plan on in 2012 to spend more time with them. And spend more time sitting down to LISTEN to what they have on their hearts. I have found out that most of the homeless are the best and trustworthy to have as a friend. So. Yes. I do have a big heart for the homeless. And I am never afraid to admit that at one time I was homeless. |

Disclosure...

When commenting on threads, I have often written something down and clicked on ‘post’ before my brain’s kicked into gear and I later think … Do I really want people knowing that about me? Hence the title disclosure … meant as a light hearted thread whereby you can disclosure bits about yourself that you don’t mind sharing with others… Here’s a one of mine… When I want a good cry, I open a bottle of wine and watch Lady sings the blues or Born Free – the ending gets to me every single time And yes. Unchained melody IS my favorite song. |

Your biggest mistake...

The #1 biggest mistake that I made was divorcing my first wife. I look back on our life together and realize that she was the best thing that ever happened to me.
She was the only one that truly understood me. But yet. Even with all my faults. She truly loved me. Even up to the day she died. |
