Topic: what do you guys think? | |
---|---|
hey guys and girls. i would like some opinions from ya!
well im a hardworking guy, i have got a kick *** salary for some one who is 22. the other night i went out with a girl from the barber shop by my workplace. the trouble im having is that i do not own a car. however i have a drivers license and a perfect driving record. i just have no desire to drive right now, i have been riding bicycle to keep myself in shape and health. i ride everywhere i need to go. what happened was that, she said to me " she wanted someone with an established career and on their feet." i found that kind of insulting because im 22 years old. i have my own house , Not an apartment but i pay a mortgage and make over 40k annually this is not even the only time i have had this problem, totally drives me nuts! the only thing a car does for me is allow me to be lazy and dependent. when i need to haul something i rent a car if it cant fit in a backpack. i guess my question is, should i buy a car specifically for dates and let the thing rot in my driveway for a years? seems kinda silly to me. but anyway, let me know what you think, it would be appreciated!! |

hate to sound terrible... but i would have a hard time dating guy without a car... if we go anywhere, i dont want to be stuck driving all the time... gas is to expensive for it to all fall on me... and, sorry, but i'm not biking 10 miles to get to the date location... I know it doesnt seem fair, and its not what you wanted to hear... sorry

And at the very least, what if someone was willing to put a pillow in the basket on their three-wheeled bicycle for you to sit on while they peddled?! If that's a problemo, I'm sure a moped wouldn't be out of the question, would it?! I'll even pay for the 73¢ worth of gas it would take to treat you to the dollar menu of your choice. |

Thats funny. I miss my bike too. But once you have a car it's the bike collecting dust. Oh and I hope your bike wasnt a huffy.
|
|
|
|
actaully my bike has no dust - I ride it recreationally when it's warm enough
the OP must live where it's warm as it is waaay too cold to ride a bike anywhere here |

dont get me wrong i love cars and all, its just a commitment i made to keep myself in shape. i re built a 1971 torino from the ground up middle of last year.
nah i dont ride bike to dates. that would be gross if someone showed up sweaty and what not. great first impression lol |

I agree you nee to get a car if you look for a serious relationship or even dating. especially with the weather changing in short notice it wont be pretty riding a bike. plus i would become extremely upset if i had to be the one picking you up. I like for the man to court me pick me up open the door hold hands as hes driving etc. GO GET A CAR

A lot of people are doing this...parking their cars and riding bikes.
It's cost efficient, better for the planet and healthy. I guess it depends where ya live, how close in, weather and such. It's a healthy green lifestyle... I wouldn't run out and buy something I didn't want just for others sake, I think that would be silly... you gotta be you. |

i agree, i dont think its fair people view it as a status symbol or a necessity. if i had a family and kids i would own a car. but right now, i see no reason too. ill eventually find someone who sees that :)
sweetestgirl, i mean no disrespect to you. those are just my views. |

I did not think u were being in the least disrespectful - I like your idea basically in many ways I just could not be without a car - that's all my main view on everything tho is live & let live....so I am not at all offended about anything....HEY wait a minute....what did you say that was offensive????? |

uh-huh that's what I thought!
Good luck with ur plan - maybe u can meet a girl at a bike rally |

well, i gotta say, if i was to take a lady out ona date, i would have to have a car. cant really take someone out to dinner all dressed up n catch the train. sure you can taxi it, but thats expensive. why not look at getting a motorbike, with a spare helmet?
