You're right this is Dana Whites fault and if he's not careful he will really piss off his fighters with crap like this. Unfortunately the UFC is the place to be for these fighters so they really don't have much of a choice but to put up with Dana. I have even more respect for Fedor for not signing with the UFC and honestly I hope it stays that way. I would love to see him fight Lesnar but Dana White doesn't deserve to call him his fighter. I will continue to hate on Lesnar because regardless of his background he is just a TOOL with a crappy attitude. "I might even climb on top of my wife later" - that's just as tacky as it gets. Again, you're right geek, most of these guys are fighters and not true martial artists. If Dana White wants to turn this into a 3 ring circus like the WWE then he should keep signing guys like Lesnar. Actually as soon as that happened Dana went to the back to talk to Brock about it. Whatever fans might think of Dana (and I've seen a lot of negative comments about him on other boards) they should remember that MMA would be relegated to a side sport in other countries and the UFC would've gone under without him. Despite his faults he was responsible for turning the UFC into a legit sport, without him we wouldn't have UFC to watch on regular cable, we wouldn't know about Anderson Silva or GSP. Fedor should sign with the UFC after he's done with whatever association he's in now. He's built up perhaps the most impressive resume but his legacy will take a hit if he continues to fight lesser known opponents in less known venues. I'd love a Fedor vs Brock fight. |

Not a Sport

Nascar not a sport. Sure it's physically grueling but so is being put in the old school holes (metal box in the hot sun) in prison. I don't classify it as sport since the car has too much impact on the results. Like horse racing, the horse has too much impact rather than the jockey so not a sport IMO.
I'm not knocking it, it's not like I'm saying that sports are better than hobbies, past times, races, or games, just different. I also don't count golf because the course provides the challenge not the opponent. Gymnastics not a sport because there's too much subjectivity in scoring. For me to consider something a sport: The human has to be doing most of the work (if you think sitting and driving 500 laps is hard work...try being the car and running 500 laps then tell me which is doing the work). It has to have a connection with athletic attributes (strength, agility, speed, hand eye coordination, strategic thinking etc) Your opponent, not the field of play, has to provide the challenge. In a race everyone just runs as fast as they can, doesn't matter if your opponent is a gimp or Usain Bolt (sure it changes where you place but the race is the same). (no swimming is not a sport, it's a race). It can't be a mini version of another sport. Tennis = sport, ping pong...no. Soccer = sport, fooseball no. Scoring cannot be subjective (gymnastics, figure skating get disqualified). |

The other thing with Brock is I think his WWE background does help in certain ways. I'm sure it improved his pain tolerance along with his ability to handle concussions.
I don't hate on Brock. People hate on him cause he got a title shot without going up the ladder. But how is that his fault? If you want to blame somebody for it, blame Dana White. What was Brock going to say, no I don't want a title shot? Yes he outweighs everyone. Again, not his fault, he cuts down to the weight limit that UFC created, it's not his fault there's a 60 pound spread between light heavy weight and heavy weight. My take on the fiasco with UFC 100. I'd give Brock a pass this once and chalk it up to adrenaline, and his background in WWE. It probably became a bit of a habit after all those WWE matches where he was expected to make a big scene and be controversial. if he does it again, he's a jerk but I give him 1 pass cause he's so used to doing that stuff and being asked to do that kind of crap. Don't mistake mixed martial arts with martial arts. A lot of the time "martial arts" aren't martial arts. MMA is a sport, a lot of martial arts dojos, I'd consider sport. part of martial arts is the tradition, knowing the history, spiritual development, developing a sense of honor, respect, and discipline. True martial arts is a way of life not just fighting. A lot of MMA fighters are true martial artists (Mochida, Chuck Lidell (he has a black belt in Koei Kan Karate, it's the style I grew up learning) along with others. But some guys are more sportsman than martial artist, nothing wrong with either but there is a difference IMO. |

No, even with a healthy neck without the requisite skills he'd get the crap beat out of him. Brock is able to transition because A) he's a freak athlete, rare combination of speed with his size and power. B) he's an accomplished collegiate wrestler (knows how to really wrestle) and C) he's near 300 pounds and has to cut to 265, there simply aren't many heavyweights that are close, a lot of UFC heavy weights are about 240-250, when Brock enters the ring he's probably about 280.
Kurt Angle is the only other wrestler I think off the top of my head who might do well since again, he's actually a great Olympic level wrestler and not an actor. |

Actually frozen vegetables tend to retain more nutrients than fresh ones. Frozen veggies are flash frozen as soon as they are picked and the freezing preserves them. once a veggie has been picked nutrients begin to degrade due to heat, light air exposure.

i posted a reply to someone and it wasn't very nice. this was before i read the rules. so sorry, but the world is not a sweet, touchy feely place where everyone is obligated to respect your opinion no matter how whacked you are. if they ban me....so be it. i guess i'll have to re-think this whole crazy notion of freedom of speech thing and check with censors next time! You do have free speech. But this is a board that someone created, it is their property so they have the right to kick you off or ban you. It is not a right for you to post here, it is a privilege granted to you by the board admins as long as you follow their rules. If you go to someone's house and start talking smack to them, they are fully within their rights to ask you to leave, if you don't, you're a trespasser and could be made to leave by police. Same kinda thing here. |

Never had a drug test, but I'd pass if I had to take one. But if it were random on the spot, I'd probably fail. I have enough self control to stop smoking pot for a month before taking a test.

You're supposed to cover that in your cover letter if you have gaps. Also if you've done volunteer work or consulting during that period, it counts as work experience.
Still though, why didn't you find a job as a clinician if that's what you went to school for? If you don't have a decent answer....make one up. I don't normally suggest being dishonest, but ya gotta eat and once you start one job, it won't be an issue again, unless you have another gap in the future. Though it's probably tough to come up with a reason for 3 years. Family issues is probably a decent one to go with, most people don't want to poke and prod when family comes up. |

**Not even going back and cleaning up this thread. Going forward, please everyone try to remain on topic** sorry - hanging my head in shame but before I'm done Geek - I'm pretty short 5'7...oh well. Always wished I were as tall as some of my friends 6ft-6ft 4. But you always see greener grass on the other side, I was talking to one of my friends a few years ago I had always admired how open and sociable he was with strangers...as well as his height. On the flip side he told me he wished he had my IQ and my agility.
care to elaborate Elaborate on what? Back to the smell thing, it's a evolutionary adaptation. There was a research study done and women and men preferred the smell of people who had different MHC haplotypes from themselves, (the more different MHC haplotypes a person inherits the more pathogens their immune system recognizes). Also smell, more than any other sense is connected to memories. So a smell you remember during a great sexual encounter will likely elicit arousal when you encounter it again. Oh yeah back to the whole point, does size matter. yes, to me it does. Not a fan of obese women nor twiggy anorexic women. Women that I get along with very well emotionally and intellectually but not physically attracted to....I call them friends. Really, what is the difference between a close friend relationship and a dating type relationship? It's sexual intimacy. It's not shallow to care about appearance, it's shallow to ONLY care about appearance. It's one of many things I care about. |

boys? in healthcare? One of the weirdest comments I've ever seen. The health care field is huge. It also includes all types of doctors, researchers, health care admin, bio engineers. If anything, traditionally there is a disproportionate number of men in medical school. |

I'm 5'5. I've always wanted to be a couple of inches taller. If they ever come up with a surgery for THAT one, I'm in! I generally have dated 6 feet or more guys. But I'd still like to be a bit taller. They do have a surgery for making someone taller, though they won't do it for you since you're a normal height (actually you're taller than average, average female height in US is like 5ft 3.75 inches) for men it's 5ft 9. The surgery requires them to break your legs and then stretch them, as they heal the bones get longer, horribly painful process and you might be taller but you'll never run the same again or be nearly as athletic. I'm pretty short 5'7...oh well. Always wished I were as tall as some of my friends 6ft-6ft 4. its called radiology and it has mass interaction with the patient and sometimes you have to deal with things you'll never want to see. trust me. no matter what medical field you go into you'll have to deal with something that isn't pretty. my mom has worked for kaiser for 24 years and i have roamed those halls as a kid and have seen some crazy stuff in my day. so if you're goin into the medical field.. you can't be queamish. unless you go into medical transcriptionist work. or medical records. EDIT!! oh yeah and pharmacy tech is a good one... but the responsibility is insanely stressful. X-Ray tech or Radiology techs are different than Radiologist. The first 2 don't require MD degrees. And there are different things that make people squeamish. Moving a limb probably isn't going to freak as many people out as open heart surgery. Back to OP: If you can't pick up algebra, forget about any job that requires an MD. I'm not trying to be a jerk but the MCATs have a physical science section which is Physics and Chemistry. Both are extremely algebra intensive, they are also both critical thinking intensive (as is the MCATs in general but this is kinda what algebra is about). Bio and orgo (bio especially) people can get by just memorizing, but if algebra type word problems are tough for you, MCAT physics will be awful. (I taught physics and bio for kaplan after the MCATs so I know too much about that stupid exam). Of course you could get your MD in the Caribbean where the average MCAT scores are far lower than what's required in the US, but I always thought of that as cheesing the system. Pharmacy school has their own test, PCATs (it also has a calculus section and chemistry is very math intensive). Why pigeon hole yourself into the medical field? All the sciences are probably somewhat math intensive. You could sell things for biotech companies, those sales rep make quite a bit, it's commission though (because everything we buy is freakin expensive the commission adds up). |

So, we all know America's economy is hurting, and it can rise and plummet (even further) at any point. I was thinking about becoming a travel agent (since I already work for Princess Cruises), but it could be very risky, since leisure goes last, bills come first. I am currently paying off a student loan for one semester I attended in the past. (long story) I was thinking in going to school forr medical study. I get squeemish, so I was thinking like an x-ray tech, you know, something where you don't entirely interact with the patient so much. Is there a special name for the above field of study? What pays the most in the medical industry? Surgeons of all type earn the most but school is long and hard, you're always on call, it can be high stress, and the hours are really long (60-80 hours a week). Neurosurgeons make like 400-500K on avg but again 4 yr college, 4 yr med school, 7 yr total residency. Dermatology isn't the highest paying at 270K avg, but it is one of the most sought after (avg dermatology residence scored in teh top 95th percentile on boards)...they don't have to be on call and work fewer hours a week with less stress. Avg x ray tech salary is about 58K. Physician Assistants make about 75K, but you have to deal with people a lot. Pharmacists on avg make around 100K (have to deal with people but more in a conseling manner not treating). The requirements for pharmacy have changed from the past, you need a pharmD. Some schools have 6 yr programs for undergrad plus pharmD degree otherwise it's 4 yrs post college for pharmacy. There's so many jobs in the medical field and most pay pretty well, I have no idea what you're interested in though. I used to be premed, but didn't want to be on call, I'm also not a fan of poking and prodding strangers. A little squeemish as well. Now I'm a molecular bio technician. But I'm looking at pharmacy schools. |

Re-read your emails before you send. Pretty certain that once its gone there's no way to get it back. yep, i was too into emotions and my own insecurities at the time, and blew it. i just hope i didn't screw up the awesome friendship that was starting to build! I think everyone has those moments or days. If you're in an emotional state probably best to wait till you're cooled off before emailing. At any rate I probably wouldn't want to be friends with someone who can't be understanding or at least be willing to give a person a second chance, then again I don't know what you sent the person. |

"I like to try new things" = I have severe ADD. People are creatures of habit. If you really enjoyed doing new things all the time you would've already done most things and your hobbies wouldn't consist of a 3 word list. Freebasing crack is probably a new thing for most people so is bulimia would you like to try those? or would you like to be a little more specific since the noun "things" is a teeny bit vague. "I'm looking for my soulmate" = I own a windowless non descript white van, I will reverse lookup your phonenumber after googling your name and call you every 30 minutes. And most likely you'll wake up one night and find me hovering over your sleeping body eating your hair with a soup spoon. My activities include (first guess....writing boring *** personal ads, these are just a list of things that someone is going to use to pretend that they're too busy to date you...ie I have yoga class tonight so I can't see you). I'm looking for a (don't tell me what you're looking for, tell me what you'd settle for it's much more realistic). Honesty?...trust me, you don't want me to be too honest you just want me to tell you what you want to hear, it's a tad ironic that you'd lie about this. Besides how do you think a liar would answer this question? Then comes my favorite lists, compassion, sensitivity, someone to listen to me, someone to share my heart with....okay okay we all get the hint....you're into women, why didn't you just say so in the first place? |

"People murder for money even when they aren't buying drugs with it, does that make money inherently evil? People get killed in car jackings so cars are bad now? Murder for any reason is wrong. There are millions of people in the world who smoke pot, some of them are responsible some of them aren't and some are absolute scumbags. In amsterdam MJ is decriminalized, they have coffee shops that sell weed, they also have a lower murder rate than the US. Same with Canada. People in Philly have been killed over such menial things as an ipod or sneakers that doesn't make ipods or sneakers bad. It makes the person bad. There are corrupt prison guards out there, so should I assume everyone who works for a prison is corrupt or should I just acknowledge there are both good and bad folk from all walks of life. Researchers have found that 42% of americans that they surveyed have tried pot, you can't convince me that 42% of americans are evil murderers. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1821697,00.html" I agree with the majority of your points. My major point is that there are personalities that are addictive and cannot handle the drug, whether it be pot, alcohol, cigarettes, whatever, but that personality gets "hooked" and can't stop. Some people can drink alcohol on a daily basis and do not become alcoholics, they can stop whenever they want, their bodies/minds do not become addicted. Some people can smoke cigarettes and start and stop at will, and others are addicted for life and fight to get off them but are virtually powerless in their battle to quit. Same with drugs, people say that pot does not lead you to stronger drugs, I have personally known a few people that it did take to hard drugs, again, their personalities wanted the bigger high, weren't happy with just the pot. Two of those people are dead now, one got high on drugs and crashed his Harley at a high rate of speed, the other one OD'ed on drugs. I "suppose" it is safe for most people, but as a parent I am not willing to risk my child's life by telling them it is okay to get high. For my daughter it was not, she is one of the addictive personalities, we found out the hard way. I just think from the comments I have read in this thread there is a real cavalier attitude about it, and that worries/scares me after what I have been through with my own daughter. I know the hell I went through, and it was pure hell, believe me, emotional hell, financial hell - it was a nightmare!!!! I would hate to have anyone else have to go through it, but other parents will, IF their child has that type of personality and the parents give them the "green light" on drug use. Okay, I will shut up, again. You are obviously very well read and intelligent, and I understand what you are saying. I hope you understand where I am coming from. Take care. I totally understand and respect your position on the matter. Some people need to avoid certain things. I just don't think it's the government's place to tell me I can't do something when I'm a productive member of society who simply enjoys to puff every once in awhile. I try to smoke in moderation...well more like binge and purge I guess lol. I have noticed that if I have pot around all the time I end up smoking more everyday and it's expensive. So instead of getting an ounce at a time (like I used to) I'll only get 1/8th (which lasts 1-2 weeks because I usually only smoke a little in the evenings after work and my responsibilities are done). Then I'll go a week or 2 without smoking at all. If anything I wish I had never started smoking cigs, that's probably the biggest regret I've had. I've tried quitting, and probably going to try again soon. Compared to cigs, it's a cinch for me to go without pot. |
|

I think it's also the visibility factor. Before MJ's death, I hadn't heard anything about him in years, even longer for Farrah but McNair, I saw him on pros vs joes like a week ago so I'm still taken aback by it. At least he won't have to live a slow debilitating and painful life, his NFL career really did a number on his body. I saw an interview with him few years ago and at the time he was saying his back hurt so bad all the time he had to sleep sitting up. The Man was a warrior.
