Topic: Disconnected... | |
---|---|
I don't know why it is that I find myself amazed and saddened about how disconnected from ones food source people are anymore.
Was talking to a guy about the differences between farm fresh eggs, and store-bought eggs, and fresh butchered chicken vs store-bought. He was freaking out about how he could never eat fresh eggs, or fresh chicken, and he would also never cook with it. (He's a chef). He's also not the only one I've spoken to about stuff like that. I can't even count the number of times I've had to explain how eggs are produced, how meat is brought to the supermarket, how milk is produced, etc. etc. etc. I've even had to explain how vegetables make it into those cans... Shakes head. C'mon folks, why isn't there a basic learning/knowing in how your food is produced, from birth to death?! |

I don't think most care
When I first ate a fresh warm egg I could not believe the taste And there's nothing like veggies freshly picked!! |

We're factory fed. And we believe that if it was factory farmed/processed that it is clean, healthy and safe to eat.
Ed might be a great guy and all but does he really know how to butcher a pig, cow, or chicken? Is his garage/barn really a clean enough place to be doing this? Is it FDA inspected? Did he really wash his hands before touching that meat? Read "Fast Food Nation" |

I can't eat processed eggs anymore, and don't do breakfast out town because of it. Farm fresh for me any day. LOL! The babies are finally starting to lay, so we've got brown eggs, dark brown eggs from the Cuckoo Marans, and blue-green eggs from the Amerauracanas! Whoo. |

And I honestly think if people had to watch an animal butchered, processed and see how it was done, we'd have more vegans running around. But yes, regarding the FDA, we get all sorts of questions regarding the eggs we sell and sales are up when the news says its good, and down when the news says bad. I dont think I even get so much lack of thinking outta sheep I know. |

When my daughter asked "where did this drumstick come from"
I told her. She has been a strict vegetarian since age 5. Dairy and eggs are cool, but nothing that had to be killed. She won't wear leather for the same reasons too. |

The only time I eat any fruits or veggies are if they are fresh. I cannot stand the taste of store bought.

When my daughter asked "where did this drumstick come from" I told her. She has been a strict vegetarian since age 5. Dairy and eggs are cool, but nothing that had to be killed. She won't wear leather for the same reasons too. Does she understand about eggs, though? That's a life that was eaten. I give her credit for knowing. Many don't. None of mine, chickens, turkeys, cows, goats, are butchered, I go with the organic farmers who let there's free-range. The food just plain tastes better. |

Brown eggs come from red feathered chickens...white eggs come from white feathered chickens......color has nothing to do with fresh... Brown eggs are local eggs & local eggs are fresh! Ummm, no! My White Jersey Giants, and my Black Jersey Giants both lay brown eggs. Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks which are black and white speckled. Egg color is breed specific, not color of bird specific. However egg-shell color is just that. Nothing is different on the inside. You can candle an egg, and see how much of an air bubble is inside and that will tell you roughly the length of time of an egg. |

I stand corrected...but color has nothing to do with freshness...
If a rooster eats asparagus do the eggs taste different?? Brown eggs come from red feathered chickens...white eggs come from white feathered chickens......color has nothing to do with fresh...
