To look at the US based on the total covid cases or death is very misleading because of the physical size and population. In some areas there are several thousand people per square mile while in others you wouldn't find 10. We are also highly diverse in lifestyle between urban areas and smaller, rural communities. It is not unusual to find entire towns with just 1 of each type of business if they even have that.

I would normally agree. But with world leaders, it is a different ballgame. Their position REQUIRES a certain personality, or demeanor, to 'represent' the American people when Networking with leaders around the world. It is as important as the professional demeanor in any other job. What is especially important is demeanor while in the public eye and carrying out their duties in their position. That, to me, is significant. I also care about character, in so much as the integrity one shows in carrying out their duties. Most of the time, when someone is caught in a lie on their resume, the hiring officials quickly pass them over. When someone has a resume that shows a lack of competence or experience for the duties, or when they come into an interview behaving in certain manners, they are passed over for more 'professional' candidates. A past trend of fraud and/or incompetence, or an unprofessional demeanor are significant personal flaws that I consider when considering the office of POTUS. Now, if one goes home and kicks their dog and cheats on their spouse, that is irrelevant to the job. But in any job, demeanor ON the job does absolutely matter. And POTUS has no set work schedule. But certainly, any time they are representing US interests, or addressing US citizens, they are 'on the job', where their demeanor should matter as much as any one else when they go to their job. |

Most rural counties some distance from an urban center have very few cases. Where I am currently at, I think there are 2 active cases in the county. Doubt there are a hundred active cases within a hundred miles of me. I feel pretty safe here!

I also think 'communist' is a false flag waived by the non 'hippies' who like to label people with fear tactics. I have not once actually heard anyone tout communism or use the phrase 'bestest ever'. I also do not know too many 50-70 year olds who sit around 'smoking dope', but quite a few above 65 who now longer work a traditional job because they are RETIRED, but are not necessarily doing 'nothing'. Trump does not even know the constitution, and the only 'center' that matters to him is himself. Reality is not subjective. So,believee as you will and be happy with that then. Most people have the idea that the world, the universe, is an objective reality. It exists independently of us, independently of perceivers. For example, a tree is a tree. Regardless of whether I perceive the tree or an ant perceives the tree, the tree is the same thing. It has its own objective reality which is perceived in different ways by different beings. My experience of the tree is subjective, as is the ant’s, but the tree has a true essence that exists objectively. Our beliefs shape our reality. Since we have the power to choose our beliefs, we have the power to shape our reality. Most of us do this subconsciously, but it is preferable to shape our reality consciously. That means we don’t have to get lucky to have a good life. Many or most of our beliefs were given to us by others: parents, friends, society. We take a lot of them for granted and never question them even though they have a direct effect on everything we experience. Point is, I disagree with your assessment of tRump, aoc and pretty much everything you say, because of my perception, how I was raised and my beliefs. The only reason for marriage, or a romantic relationship, is love. The desire to be together because you love one another and want to build a life and future together. After people being locked down or restricted for a period of time, they tend to want out. Same as cabin fever; when that happens they tend to be more careless. It takes several days from the increased social activity before we see the results. I believe the average from being exposed to serious enough infection to be tested or hospitalized is 5 days. Things that seem to increase numbers are like holidays (Easter) and nice weather days especially on the weekend. Practice your social distancing and wear your face covering.

The difficulty is getting to that "herd" immunity and the cost associated with getting there by having the illness. A well designed vaccine causes the immunity response in the body without the dangers associated with the disease. In the case of COVID, the dangers for some are very real and the result for some is death. The cost associated with it now are only because it turned into a pandemic. That hardly ever happens, last time was a century ago with Spanish flu. You cannot anticipate that, ever, as there will always be something new at some point. At least as long as we live the way we live (fear-based). Most diseases that come up do not turn in a pandemic. And if this ever comes back round it likely won't cause this much chaos as most will be immune. What will happen when it mutates remains to be seen, even if that is going to happen. And if it would change enough for our immune system to not be able to handle it, the vaccines they're making now -based on this version- won't help either. Also... as for the cost of it... did you read the economic results in the USA AFTER the Spanish flu? The cities that did a very strict lockdown and social distancing AND for a long time as well, bounced back economically afterwards at the speed of light! It boosted everything. The cities who hadn't been so strict and didn't shut down stuff for a longer period didn't do so well at all afterwards. So I think this cost thing is relative. Don't forget a lot of money is being made now too, just from different things. And if everything gets a boost afterwards... Might make up for a lot! Big difference now of course is that many companies can and are still working because it's internet based, only have their people work from home. Maybe not in the US, but in other countries like mine for sure. |

Preference: a greater liking for one alternative over another or others. When we say we 'don't' do something. That is not a preference. A preference ranks options by order. If I don't eat spinach, that is NOT a preference. It is a choice, and It is an exclusion altogether, not even in the options. If I prefer strawberry ice cream, I will still eat other types. But amongst those options, my first choice is strawberry. If I do not date girls, that is my choice. Because they are not an option, I can't really say it is a preference. They are not even on the list. IT is an exclusion and it is my choice though. Pardon? What are you saying MsHarmony? She's saying there 's a difference between *preference" (i.e. what one prefers) and "choice" (as Ms harmony puts it, absolute *nopes*) I disagree with the latter...some things, such a sexual orientation are NOT "choices".. |
