Sometimes you just have to take a chance....accept a bigger risk.

If there is nobody in your area, then expand your comfort zone. Expand your mind. Expand the size of your available dating pool.

I met one of my first girlfriends at a summer writing workshop. We were only there for 1 month. But after the workshop, we at least tried to make an effort to stay together. Ultimately, it didn't work out. But that hasn't deterred me, or forced me to stay local in my searches.

The result has led to 2 relationships that I do not regret.

Would I prefer someone local? Sure. But sometimes they just aren't easy to find, even when there are plenty of singles around. Maybe they are too young, or too old, or I just don't find them attractive.

The pickings can be slim even when you are in a populous area, given the right preferences.

So I will just adapt and adopt new approaches.

It depends on the actual mental illness. Some are much easier to deal with than others.

One of my ex-gf had a personality disorder, but she was a great partner.

Another ex-gf had a minor TBI, but she was also great.

I've known women with Bi-Polar, and their boyfriends....and those were rocky relationships, but they stuck together anyway. At least one of those couples has now been together for almost 20 years.

That must be my daily wake up call!

I feel your pain, brother! A missing chocolate bar would be an existential crisis in my life. If there are 2 things I love in this world more than all else, they would be chocolate and ice cream.

From my man's perspective, and if I were you, I would hold off for maybe another 5 years. Based on your picture, I think you look great as you are now.

But in another 5 years, I would consider letting the gray gradually fade in. Then in about 10 years from now, I suspect you would look quite good with all gray hair.

But, that's just my take on it.



Personally, I need to add a newer photo of myself. I have a fair amount of grey on the sides now. It's also in my beard much more than when I took my current profile pic.

Everything now and then, I've considered coloring my hair just because people say I have a young face. I've never actually done it though. I still get looks from women from age 20 and up. Just a month ago, one of my close friends notice a younger librarian ogling me as I walked past obliviously. So....I guess the grey works for me.

It has been years -- YEARS -- since I received a Nudge from a legitimate profile.

Even then, I think I've only ever received 3 that weren't from a fake profile.

Hence, I now delete all Nudges that aren't from someone I already know. Just as I ignore and delete any email that just says "Hi".

As others have said, if someone can't put the extra effort in to actually start a conversation, then I'm not going to waste my time.
